The most successful and decorated player in the history of Asia, possibly the world, will lead the East against Europe/USA on November 19-21st. Efren "Bata" Reyes has been chosen as Captain of Team Asia and will lead them against the West in what surely will become the most epic rivalry in cue sports. The pool world is about to get rocked in a war that fans have been dreaming about for years. Dragon Promotions is pleased to announce the Kings Cup, a first time ever event pitting the men's champions of Europe & USA versus the champions of Asia in a three day contest to declare which side is the strongest, the East or the West. On November 19th-21st the world, as well as the players themselves, will find out! Four players on each side will be selected to represent their continent. The Kings Cup will be hosted by the award winning Resorts World Manila Casino & Hotel and produced by Dragon Promotions.

The rest of Team Asia will be announced in the upcoming days

The issue I see with this is that you will have a tough time getting the actual top players from Asia over here for this.

Ko Pin Yi
Jung Lin Chang
Dennis Orcullo
Johann Chua

Alternatives to the above could include

Ko Ping Chung
Jeffrey Ignacio
Wu Chia Ching
Yang Chin Sun

Those are some of the actual best in Asia that "should" be on the team if you want to make this a legitimate "best of the East vs best of the West" competition.

If you end up with Kiamco, Wang Can, Busty, ect... sorry but that does not cut it.

I am sure you have more access to some of the top Euros, Thornton obviously, Appleton is pretty easy to find, Neils makes his way over on occasion. Those are the top 3 Euros and TBH they "should" all be on the team. You could put Shaw in for one of them if you have to. And the only American is clearly SVB. No other American can really care to the top Euros (or Shane) and the closest that does (Dechaine) and you are not exactly best buddies so I hope Mike is not holding his breath.

If you put guys a step below the best, Bergman (awesome win against Dennis, still tough to find anyone to take even action on their next match...), Sky, Morris, or any other guys who are not quote there yet or not there anymore the event becomes a lark and means little.

Spot on
I would add Yu Lung Chang and Lee Van for Team East

I think there's a number of great combinations in Asia.
Asia's B team could still be formidable against Europes A team.
Even Japan has strong guys like Akagiriyama who won the World 9. The last American to do that was Strickland. China has strong players better than Wang Can. Like Li Hewen and Liu Haitao. And of course 4x World champ Wu Chia Ching.

In comparison, the Mosconi had players like Hall, Bergman, Shuff, Dechaine. None of which have won a real major yet.
I'm looking forward to east V's west. I'm sure it'll be more exciting and closer than when Europe wipes the floors with USA over and over.

POTUS Magician

In related news, Efren Reyes is leading the poles after the announcement that he's running as an independent for President Of The United States. Trump and Clinton are very worried... Efren's first official directive as POTUS is to have a 5 X10 Brunswick Centennial installed in the oval office... set up by Ernesto, of course.

Sorry guys, a little fun this Labor Day weekend... hope the teams bring their best.

Another interesting candidate would be John Morra for the west. By far the best Canadian. If the Kings Cup allows for Canada. Guess technically west should mean any country on Western Hemisphere ? :)

Yang is done-zo, has been for years. The dream is dead (for him at least).

Yeah, I totally forgot Yu Lung Chang, he definitely can be there. Corteza I do feel is a slight bit behind most of the guys I listed but not to a degree I would be mind boggled if he was on the team. I guess Biado can be on the list as well for that matter.

He played in an event not too long ago and threatened to win it. He is also listed as competing in the upcoming world 9-ball championships.

Corteza behind?

Corteza isn't behind anybody, just ask Dennis O.

Its a great idea no matter what,

When did Busty become a dog????? One on one for the money who in this country can beat him?

Pool needs all the attention it can get and this event could become as big as the Mosconi Cup in time if its run well and supported.

How about Thorsten Hohmann?
As he lives in the US, Europe and USA can both claim he is theirs.
And he plays well, too.

From poolmag.com

"Four players on each side will be selected to represent their continent and compete in 10-Ball. "..... "...in a three day contest "

He played in an event not too long ago and threatened to win it. He is also listed as competing in the upcoming world 9-ball championships.

He does that every couple of years, but this isn't his first "come back." I guess we'll see...no one would be happier with an in-stroke Yang back winning tournies.

However, if you compare his play now to his prime...it's like I'm watching a different shooter.

Carlo, ko, Chang yu lung, and li hewen so china can get a spot... Although I think chua could get the nod because it is being held In the Philippines .

Your right!

Carlo, ko, Chang yu lung, and li hewen so china can get a spot... Although I think chua could get the nod because it is being held In the Philippines .

That's why I think the event could become big, there are so many good players over seas that want to show there skills.

If the USA could get 5 or 6 players near the top to the leader board it could be special.
