Instructions that came with tips.

Verbatim.

''Never use a course shaper like cue cube or a Williard for maintenance.''

Would of been nice if they would of used ''COARSE". :)

So how does one shape this tip without using a coarse/abrasive/tool when you miscue during play?

My gf has this tip on her cue. I think it hits great. I use a Kamui Gator Grip tool to shape and scuff it.

The only problem is my repair guy won't install/carry them because he said too many have popcorned on him when installing.

Just hit it with some 600 grit sand paper, these tips hold chalk very very well, you shouldn't have many worries on glazing over. At least I haven't.

I'm takin' this ''tip'' tip from J. J. it's the tip he uses I figured he'd give me answers after use.

Still haven't found the tip, that I'm going to ''like''.

I find him on the cutting edge of ''now'' pool knowledge and trying this tip ''good conversation''....and as of late he gets out there with new players and it's win win for the production/J.J. and the players.
Before I pop for the CF or that line.
I'm going to try two more fresh cut 13mm Maple shafts from 25 + yr old blanks.

I used a soft tip from him, in the time I had it I never had to do much to it at all, it never mushroomed, and can't remember it ever glazing over. Maybe a tip pick would work on it to roughen the surface a bit. Don't know about the best way to install it and cut it, but Mike Webb did a perfect job on it for me. I did have a relatively new tip installer go through several of them (not for me) before getting the procedure down.

Well I used one for awhile, miscued....I never miscue.
When I took it off (I pull it with my teeth, it sponged out like a the elkmasters used too.
Got two new maple shafts from Kikel, went back to La Pros.

Good tips. Only problem I had with them was consistency. Some would popcorn on install. Some wouldn’t blow apart, but would have a kind of spongy side that didn’t feel right when you struck the ball on that part of the tip. I also noticed that when the tip gets low, the side walls tended to blow out and I was getting little chips on the edge of my ferrule. When you get one that’s solid and installs like it’s supposed to with no issues, it’s a GREAT tip. But for me that was like one in three or four, so I quit using them.

I’ve been using the Zan Hybrid Max for over a year now and, although the hit and feedback isn’t my favorite, it is by far the most consistent tip I’ve ever used, period. For me, that’s more important than trying to chase the perfect feel. Zero issues with install, shape it once, and forget about it. It never mushrooms or loses its shape. Occasionally I’ll hit it real quick with the Kamui Gator Grip tool just to agitate the surface, but that’s it. And they last way longer than the techno dud. I play a lot and I’m only on my second one. And there’s still plenty of life left in it.
