I don't know why you wouldn't give him a chance. The guy pretty much dominated in his prime and will definitely be remembered as one of the best players ever to pick up a cue. He might not be in his prime these days, but he isn't crippled either. He only has to win one match here. You don't think he can win one match against anyone on the planet? I guess I'll go on record as saying that I DO give him a chance ... and a good one at that.

Yea i give him a chance, the same chance as i have of winning a IPT tournament ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sure he will win a game or two, but he will get smoked.

1 word...Manalo...21 break and runs? I don't think anyone has a chance with this guy in it.

Shorty

why not

Now I may agree that mike may not be in top competetive form but cmon, he's a pro. He has the ability like any other pro to run out tables. So if you can run out a table, your opponent cannot beat you, no matter who they are!

Having said that I think he will have a tough time with any of the six remaining players

I don't know.

It's difficult to say. There were three players that were smoking in the beginning of the KOH.

Manalo, Bustamante, and Immonen. Immonen lost two and Bustamante lost one while Manalo had rocked. Then Immonen met up with Reyes, and lost. While Reyes lost to a couple of people I still give him a good chance of pulling it out if anyone can, but at this point I would have to favor the undefeated Manalo.

If Manalo does get to the finals I don't think Sigel can pull it out, if anyone else does I think it's a possibility.

records say alot so far...

Manolo has yet to lose a match with 49 BKROs and Bustamante has only lost one match with 37 BKROs. Plus you have Mika who has lost three matches, but still has the lowest average number of games against him per set for the whole tourney so far.

Of course Sigel can run racks. I mean even in his sleep, but can he run enough to keep some of these guys getting to the table, time will tell.

just curious as to why archers name is not being mentioned as a contender? Is he not as strong of an 8 ball player as say efren or buste?

I wouldn't rule out Sigel yet. Remember, this is 8-ball and 8-ball doesn't require excellent shotmaking. Even Sigel, not in his prime anymore, can run a 5/6 pack in 8-ball. Heck, even I ran a few 3-packs in my last 8-ball tourney while shooting like sh*t. And if retired HOF's Ray Martin and Nick Varner can beat these top players, I don't see any reason why Sigel couldn't.

The first part of this reply wil be a joke.

ANyone who has seen TCOM knows that it comes in runs, and that the balls roll funny for everyone. J.K.

No, at this level you're going to have people that are really on and people that are playing average. While Archer is a threat at any time, in this tournament right now, I don't think he will pull it out.

The only reason I give Efren a chance is because he was a little cold in those first matches and he pulled it together to beat out Immonen who is doing pretty damn well in this tournament. Plus I had my money on Efren from the start. ;)

6 guys fighting for a chance at Sigel & 200K...they can all play, they can all win on any given day. BUT...I would think that Sigel doesnt wanna see "BATA" walking down the isle at him for the $$$!!! The closer of all closers, possibly the best all around player in the bunch and without question the guy thats won the most BIG dollar matches. Both he & Sigel are 50+...what more could you ask for, I'm rootin' for Efren!!!

You say that like these guys are dead men. Both can still play world speed, Ray at near 70 and Nick...well Nick has a ton of pool left in him!!! Sigel can win, he just doesnt HAVE too!!

Yup. I give a chance. If he's taking it serious, and the reports of him breaking an 8-pack on these tables is correct, then of course he has a chance.

The DVD I believe shows him running 5 racks in a row. It just wasn't shown on the air.

Normally, but these table are getting tighter. They all have to play with excellent shotmaking.

Of the matches I've seen, Nick is playing the best 8-ball (as it should be played).

Hard Call...

I like Everyone that's still standing...I think Manolo is rolling like a Freight Train, and I think everyone is feeling that...can't count out Efren at anytime against anyone though...Bustamante is Bustamante...Mika is bringing more game than I've seen from him in awhile......I'm rootin' for Archer, (he's a Local to me, bringing the heat, and always a threat), Varner was just here in ATL a couple of weeks ago at a tourny I played in...he ran some racks with some of us, I think he would be least likely to get it done...as for Siegel I hope gets rolled by whoever he faces, and it's likely to be Manolo or Efren, so I think he's done...question is will he be back next year?, (I doubt it)...

my 2c-

In early 90s Sigel produced instructional videos (8 ball, 9 Ball and straight pool). If I recall correctly,he mentioned in those videos that in 8 Ball your win or loss is determined by the choice u make on your first shot after the break. He was talking about the pattern of play.He being the past world straight pool champion, would know the right pattern to follow.
One will NOT dismiss Sigel if one really knows sigel`s game.

100 titles, one of the best ever, and some people think Mike doesn't have ANY chance? That's crazy talk. Have they seen his 150 and outs at 14.1 on tape? I think even Mosconi said one of them was the cleanest run 150 he'd ever seen. Mike looks rusty sometimes but usually snaps back.

I'm hoping it comes down to Efren and Mike. Two of the greatest ever and they both say the other was their toughest opponent. Let the young guys take over next year.

If Varner is healthy, don't be surprised if he manages to make it,either. These guys have been shooting pool the right way for decades; perfect fundamentals and the knowledge of the game might get him there.

Of course, Manalo still looks like he might crush everyone but a little respect for the guys who won 100+ tournements might be in order.

We'll see how tight the pockets get as the money gets bigger.

That's a good point. In the mid nineties I was watching a match between Johnny Archer and Francisco Galindo. They were playing for ten grand a race and Johnny was giving him the eight. They were not running out, they were missing shots. Francisco I believe ended up taking 30K off of Archer.
