Temperature for table

Any thoughts on what temperature you should keep your pool room at so your table will keep its playability?

My GCI is in garage that'll soon be winterized and heated, but I'm wondering about how low I can set the thermostat when I'm not there for a week or two.

Growing up, mine was in the basement where there was a decent temp. and humidity change from season to season. Didn't make much difference.

I would think that anywhere between 50-100 degrees should be fine for the room temp. It is the sudden changes that I would worry about.
Free advice- get what you pay for!

Thanks for sharing the wealth of yer experience.

Guess this is more directed at table mechanics, though if somebody's got a horror story that could be useful to know. Obviously, you don't want the table to be in below-freezing conditions, but how far above that do you need to keep it, is my question. Pretty fair difference in the amount of propane you'd need to heat it to 40, compared with 50. This is worth thinking about when you've got tanks outside, up a steep dirt road on the side of a mountain that gets about 15 feet of snow a winter.

TB,
Do you mind me asking in what part of NYC you reside?? I think I'm going to avoid that part of the city when I head there for the World Straight Pool Tournament next April.

Willie, doesn't it snow just a little in Indian-er?
Well, you start at Times Square, head over to the Hudson, and then drive about 150 miles north and west ... It's a weekend place ... and not another 9-footer within an hour in any direction. :D But hey, it's real purty up the holler, there might only be a foot or two left by April ... and I'd even attempt some 14.1 if you happened by.

Temperature

I think that the temperature in your pool room should be within a reasonable range - say between 65 and 75 degrees. I think that the humidity is more important. I live in the Southeast and I notice a BIG difference in the playing characteristics of my table (Pro 8 Ohlhausen with ball return, Simonis 860 cloth) depending on the humidity. Anybody else notice this?

You are absolutely correct, the humidity is the most important factor.
