Just trying to get an idea of how these cues play. What kind of hit do they have? What other cues play like a Terbrock Custom for comparison?

IMO, Jerry makes a fantastic cue, meticulous in every respect. If I had to describe the hit, though I've only taken a few hits with a couple, I'd say it was very SW-like.

"Hit" is very subjective. The Terbrock I owned had NOTHING like a Southwest hit. The Southwests that I've played had a hit that might rival a steel-reinforced hedge post - in other words very solid. My Terbrock had a much softer hit which, considering it had inlaid and not "built" points, was to be expected. I think the Terbrock cues will vary much as would most cues when going from one design type to another. His "built point" cues would probably have a much firmer hit than did mine.

Gotcha!! Thanks. I've been offered a Terbrock cue in trade for a Schon. What do you think??

I think I would have to see both cues to have an opinion. And it depends upon whether you would be doing the trade for investment or to get a good player. Jerry's cues are very popular and valuable but only in a limited area. Resale of his cues on this site is poor. He builds some exceptionally good cues but just doesn't have the name recognition ( I don't think he cares about that ).

As a side note Jerry still shoots a mean game of pool as of a year or two ago. Came down to our local tournament, was so worn out by the end of it he had to be helped out of his chair to get to the table. Snapped off one of the local hotshots to get to the hotseat, then took second place money and went home.

It was hilarious because the dude he beat is pretty full of himself.

I own a Terbrock and many Mcdermott cues. His cues hit similar to an older McDermott in my opinion. Very solid. And I second what others are saying, he is an awesome player. Still the best I've ever seen in person.

I know Jerry personally. If my memory serves me right, Jerry was a Missouri State Champion, I believe eight ball. He is a fine cue maker and his cues are very solid. I have owned two of his cues and he did repair work on a Joss West once for me. I have one of his cues right now with Kamui black soft tips which gives a very nice hit. He makes a good cue any way you want one and the prices are very fair. He is just a good up front guy. Mine plays like a Richard Black cue with the Kamui black soft tips.

I've owned a few High-end Turbrocks and Craftsmanship was impeccable.
They all played like my Fancy Verl Horn's and I only sold them because guys
tempted me with "crazy" money. I spoke with him recently about building a
Super Fancy 60" Cue and it may come to fruition.

Terbrock

Check out his website. He has some of the sticks on there. I currently play with one, and have one as a jump break. I have owned and sold about a dozen of them. They play great to me but that is diff for everyone.

I had him build me one similar to one of his models and got it in about 3 months. I love the way it played but ended up selling it. The value doesn't hold up when trying to resell it for the most part. You do get a lot for what you pay for from him.
