Terminology Question

The amount of genius I see coming from cuemakers never ceases to amaze me. Nice job Edwin, very nice.

Tracy

What amazes me is that some people believe that everything has been done before. I have never seen another 7 point cue (didn't see Dieckmans) but the point is how can anyone even think that it's all been done before? Edwin is a master at testing out new concepts and ideas, and I'm not saying they are all winners, but they are new and exciting. Anyone who wants copies made is just hurting the cue business in general, we (as customers) need to push these guys to come out with new crazy ideas to challenge each other and do what hasn't been done before, even if it's in a classic style. Great work Ed keep it up. BTW I've never seen an 11 point cue (just in case I can say I thought of it LOL)

Dieckman, Schuler etc... what matters is there is a freshness to the idea. Its exciting and it contributes to the trade... well said... Niiiiceeee... Tap tap. cheers...

Thanks Jim! Here's a prototype of the 11 pointer. I had to put in my $0.02 as usual. It's a short v-splice with the bases overlapping right over left. A single veneer around each point could have shown it better. Anyway....presenting...drumroll....The JimBo 11!

A-joint view of JimBo11

Here's the bottom view, unfortunately I have a lousy camera with no close-up capability. I numbered the right-over-left overlapping points with a gold colored ink pen. Sorry if it's not clear.

So Jim, do I write down 11 in the Purchase Order for this "CRAPspy" Series of 7 & 11 pointers?

With all the mumbo jumbo stuff being thrown in  my head is hurting to decifer them. You're one hell of a Master. ;)

I'm drooling now. Hand me the tissue pleaze... :D

Bandido,

I have 8 point Lambros cue .. I guess all the technical mumbo jumbo about indexing the blank is easier for even number points vs. odd number points? It's something about dividing 360 by 8 = 4.5

have already anticipated this...
(when i 1st saw/stared at the cue)
the cue is really amazingly-simple!
but needs alot of ed's (tuttuts) to create such...:D

fyi...im well ahead of you guys :p hehehe
im gonna corner all of ER's 7-pointer v-full whatever splice...lol

Since it's the full length, and there isn't any "splicing" that you're mimicking (the half-splice, though not a splice mimics a full splice), I'd go with:

Full length V-points
Full length V-prongs

Fred
Thanks Fred. Now we proceed.;)

Ah...so you finally got rid of that "blue screen of death" or are you in an i-cafe?

Yes you were ahead of everybody, did you get rid of that funny smile on your face that you'd normally get on X'mas morning? LOL What do you think of the Jimbo 11 with one side overlap?

You son of a B^%#$@^%#@ piece of S*^$%#&# HOW DARE YOU!!!!
I can't even talk for 1 day without you making me look bad and costing me an order. Wait!!!! I don't think it was the right wood combo, cancel my order you big show off. I think you need to stop this crap and start making Szamboti copies, just put your name on them somewhere and it'll all be fine, why bother working on new ideas, all everyone wants to buy is what's been done already, why waste the time?? Time is money you know.

BTW I started to do some research since I've never seen a 7 point cue before and I came up with an earlier example. Bill Schick back in the late 70's early 80's made a 3 point cue and a 7 point cue, he did so for a guy who wanted his name on his cue, gold letters in the points, his first name was 3 letters and his last was 7. This was done before the days on CNC so you figure out how hard it was...

Jim B------ <---It can't be?????

LOL, What can I say? I love legitimate challenges. It's just a prototype Jim. I even went and got different shades of the point stock to somewhat delineate the edges but that didn't even help with this lousy camera. Time is money is true but what I'd like to do is to come up with a worthy contribution to the craft and I think this full-legth compound angle v-groove is getting me real close.:)

The way it's done at present time by the cuemakers here may be how it was done 20-30 years ago there. Wrap a strip of paper around the cue to get its circumference then fold the strip into how many points you want to inlay. I saw this first done in '96 and to help them out I got one of those drafting templates that's full of circles and scribed markings on the circles closest to the diameter of the cue.

I'd like to see a photo of those Schicks and somewhat have an idea who to ask nicely. Since a 7 has been done, I'm glad that I did that one side overlapped 11. The way those points were made was like one of those Japanese interlocking wooden puzzles. I'll send this proto to you since you thought of it.:)

Boss Linds, I'll see you soon and beer is on my. Hopefully I'll see the Master himself too.

Master, Will the Red Hooded Revo be there? I wanna do a mile with 2 car length, maybe make it a 3 length spot. ;) :D

Boss Linds, Don't forget, I'm on the line first for the 7's.

Sure, Wild 7&8. When are you flying in? I've got a dozen half-v-spliced 7s that just needs about a month more to be completed and is part of my offering for the World Pool-Manila. This is the 7th year since a Pinoy has won it, Efren in '99 (Alex was representing Canada in Taiwan).

Eleven pointers, seven pointers, full v-groove splice.....wow. You're one hell of a craftsman mr. Reyes, and I have to say I like your attitude about wanting to add something to the craft of cue-making.

Next thing you'll be telling us you're also working on a 13-pointer, which I have never seen before......sorry for the shameless attempt. I just had to have a go.

Seriously though, are you still working on those ER240 shafts?

Hi Davey,
I still picture you in my head while we were in Cardiff. I kind of miss that time that our paths crossed, that whole Cardiff experience was great. Now, now, don't tempt me with another challenge. I'll get to it but let me take care of some projects here that I'm pumped up for right now (AZHousePros, Segafredo's and GForces') and some headed for Europe.

Yes, I'm still filling orders for the 240s, unfortunately I can't rsh its production.

I'll be flying in Saturday afternoon. Will be playing on Sunday's StiradorS Cup. :D

Hope we can talk about that half-v-spliced 7s. ;)
