of the Gem City Classic. To hype that tourney up the way they did and not give any good coverage was pretty sad. I got a link to a bracket sheet that they didn't update. Live stream was a flop and then nothing to just try to make up for it.

Well while you were reading about all the great streaming that was going to be provided by someone that post on here which was going to be F R E E to anyone that wanted to view the streaming in which he maid every effort possible to make it happen unfortunitely he had computer problems out of his control so if you would have stepped up and donated $2000.00 for new computer(s), then Im sure he could have made this happen. Don't be so greedy when someone tries their best to give you something for F R E E.

Dont come on here and tell me I made a bad post. I knew he had problems with the webcam. I was there when he started. I just wanted to be able to keep track of the tourney one way or the other. I at least had someone give me a link to the bracket sheet that turned out to be a waste of time also. There was no coverage and you know it.

It sounds like they did the best they could with what they had. If you didn't pay for a PPV stream link I don't understand why you are coming down on these guys like this. You're out no money. Sorry, sounds like you're bent out of shape over nothing. JMO

kydartmaster: Correct Me if I'm wrong: If you were there at the tourney, why didn't you post on the the forum the action or ask other there to update AzBilliard with info or Picture!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh! That not your responsibility!!!! But it okay to report negative about no coverage!!!!!!!

Why are you guys so hung up on the FREE stream? I wasn't as worried about watching 1 table as I was just wanting to know what was going on with the "whole" tournament. All I asked for was information about the tournament.

Fast Davie...you can bite me.

Billiard shot...I wasn't meaning I was at the tourney. I was saying I was watching the live stream when he first started it.

Your weekend was obviously ruined. FWIW, knowing that Matt tried in vain to correct the streaming problem, you don't find it the least bit rude and out of line to say it "was a flop and then nothing to just try to make up for it"? Matt went back to his house to get a backup computer and sat up all night trying to get it to work and you have the nerve to say "nothing" was done to make up for his computer crashes? You do realize that Matt wasn't getting paid and was making the valiant effort on his own time & dime? Keep complaining about guys like Matt and you won't have any streams to watch because the guys that do this for FREE and that GIVE IT TO YOU FOR FREE WILL QUIT DOING IT.

Your real complaint should be directed at the ones that promoted the event and the billiard media (az billiards, billiards digest, inside pool) for not getting the coverage out to the fans. One of two things has to happen for coverage to be had - someone at the event (usually the TD in regional events) contacts the billiard media to give them updates or the billiard media contacts the TD (or sends someone to the event) to get the info.

This was Johnny & Kim's first event and not everything will be perfect at a persons first rodeo. Constructive feedback, like a letter to Johnny & Kim suggesting they make it a point to have someone contact the billiard media, or ask the billiard media to attend the event next yr is a much more effective way to get positive results. Your way of handling it has not provided you with any positive results, just negativity in response to your negativity. Theres an old saying about attracting more bees with honey than with vinegar and I think that saying applies here.

If you had read my last post you would have seen that I wasn't that concerned about the live stream. I'm not bashing Matt at all. You guys that are hung up on the "live stream" cant get it in your heads that I'm talking about just being able to check to see who was getting through each round. I could care less about watching 1 table all weekend. I was only going to watch the live stream here and there anyway.

Could've fooled me (and quite a few others as can be told by the other posts).

Live stream was a flop and then nothing to just try to make up for it.
That doesn't sound like someone who "could care less". Either way you look at it, your words were a zing against Matt and he deserves an apology (IMO but thats just me).

For future reference maybe you should relegate your gripes to only the things you want to gripe about. I reiterate my original post and suggest you formalize your complaint to those responsible - the billiard media and the promoters.

I agree with UrackmIcrackm, kydartmaster. Either way you look at it, your words were a zing against Matt and he deserves an apology

Matt post in numerous different threads about his problem and how he was trying to fix it!

I usually pass on these type threads but I have to add this .
If you wanted to know so bad you should have come and supported this event !
And while your at it why don't you drop a few bucks AZ's way to help run this sight !!
If your not part of the solution then your part of the problem !
Think about it ....
Then again your tag line pretty much says all .....

It isn't up to the people running the tournament to provide any kind of coverage. They are, after all, busy RUNNING the tournament. Any brackets provided online are a courtesy IF someone is available to provide it. Coverage is really what the press is for.

Maybe this should be changed for all bigger events.
Many people arent in a position or location to get to events that have
the top players and Pros involved.
Perhaps a little better coverage during events would add some interest.

I have never posted brackets online before..... is there an easy way to do so? An easy way to have a site(free blog site??) and update it regularly.
In todays world there are many people that would help for free to keep updates flowing. Many on AZ.

Sorry to hear that the streamer had computer issues. I know that must have pissed him off. Hats off to him for the effort and thought

yeah you did and for the following reason.

i can't count how many events - action matches and tournaments - i have to come to the forums to get the scoop on. there are no online brackets, no stream, nothing. and the guys holding this particular tournament happened to also be playing in it. lighten up a little and quit telling people to bite you because they called you out on being a little surly for not such a great reason. i'd like to add to your signature line - it takes an even bigger man to realize he was a little angry and spoke out of turn and maybe just maybe he should tone it down a little. as far as you appologizing to matt i'm not jumpin on that train. you didn't call the guy out, you didn't call him names, so no harm no foul. but i think you might want to just ease up a little on the hostility.

Is it my imagination or do people nowadays express varying forms of entitlement more than say 10-20 years ago?

Is it because the internet has created a culture of free that people complain when things are not given to them for free fast/good enough?

Lass than 2 years ago, there were over 200 people in text chat getting the play by play third hand as SVB defeated Ronnie Alcano to win the US Open.

We all thought that was great.

These days we get live streaming for a lot of tournaments, live updates, brackets, etc - and Azbilliards leads the way in bringing all of the coverage to us.

Coverage is not always perfect or up to date, but at least we have people dedicated to provide it for us, so I remain grateful.
