Terry's Inlay Design

Hi,

Here is a cue I just finished up. Terry Nixon drew the inlay designs on an index card and I drew my vectorized interpretation and made them proportional to a cue butt and point size. I like his design it is simple and very bold. I work with all my custom cue customers giving them the opportunity to design their cues. Terry as a broker of my cues did a nice job.

This is my 4 point geometry with 4 veneers (ebony points...white,blue,orange,blue) with matching stitch rings. Plain black leather wrap.

This cue is available for sale and Terry ( Rack Runner ) is the broker.

Anyone who has any questions concerning this cue should call Terry directly @ 847 774-7004.

Thanks for looking,

Rick

very nice colors and design. I would have liked to see a fine black line engraved the same shapes as butt designs to break it up just a little more

I like that. A LOT. I has very simple elements and they are combined very well; the use of negative space and the blend of linear and curved edges is actually quite cool. That Terry guy has a real eye for design.

You should think about hiring him for lessons if he's willing. Hey, maybe he could become the latest member of "Team Rick"!

It's a great concept for a design but in my opinion, the sleeve is incongruous in size with the cue's overall design and
the very same sleeve design would look a lot better if the inlays were smaller and thinner. Aside from that observation,
this cue turned out really handsome and should garnish a lot of attention for its new owner.

Very nice job guys...

Troy,

Terry is planning to become a CM when he retires in a few years and is acquiring equipment to that end.

He comes to my shop from Wisconsin every Wednesday and spends the day observing and learning my methods. We have a lot of fun as we share a passion for cues.

He has been brokering some of my cues and this one is his second design I have built and he will sell.

Thanks,

Rick

Ah jeez, the poor bastard. It could take him years to undo that kind of damage. Well, at least be sure and explain to him all about your crackpot "hydraulic potential" beliefs - you know, since you're an expert and all on that subject.

Crow is always best served cold TW. I left a detailed response to your questions concerning the physics on the other thread.

Back to the subject at hand...great looking cue all around. And I for one appreciate the unique look and well thought out and executed design. Nice work guys. Matt D.

nice to see a cue maker not trying to make the same bullshit TRIBUTE BUSKA cue.great job sirs

Thanks for your kind words Killa,

I try not to put limitations on any build.

I get my satisfaction giving a customer the custom cue they want.

My customer's generally design their own custom cues and I work very closely with them but I also steer them away from things that are against the grain. Example: butt sleeve wood should match either the points or forearm species. Adding a 3rd wood is in general not the best thing to do. Basic things like that.

So if someone wanted a Szamboti tribute cue, I would give them what they wanted, respectfully call it a tribute cue and do my best.

It is all about everybody being happy in the end.:ok:
