Texas Express

I'm playing a tournament tomorrow that has Texas Express rules. I've never played this before. Can someone tell me what the basic rules are?

I think the main rule people think of when someone says "Texas Express" is:

three fouls in a row and you lose, no matter what kind of fouls they were (scratch, no hit, no rail, etc).

Nowadays this rule is so widespread that it's pretty much an official rule of 9 ball, like the pushout. It's part of the BCA rules iirc.

Be careful, some players play for this when they know they can't run out. Expect back to back safeties and be ready to make some good kicks.

Sounds like I've been playing by the rules but didn't know what they were called.

i like it alot better than spotting the balls,

with the old rules if you make 2 balls on the break and scratch and spotting balls then giving BIH behind the line is a penalizes the guy who didnt scratch because it leaves him nothing but a shot he is forced to play safe on, stupid. I watched a old match with these rules last night, terrible rules. alternating breaks suck too.

all balls down, BIH on a foul, and CB fouls makes a better fairer, funner game. you see alot more run outs but thats cool pay longer sets to even things out.
