if Bergman gets back on the trail too perhaps we can have a deeper field of talent in the US
don't hold your breath. unless he has a massive change of heart his days of chasing big table glory are behind him. he'd be in this if had any interest.

Here are the names I recognize. Pretty strong field.

Shane Wolford
Lee Vann Corteza
Shane Van Boening
Billy Thorpe
John Morra
Roland Garcia
Roberto Gomez
Tony Chohan
Josh Roberts
Gabe Owen
Tyler Styer
Demetrius Jelatis
Vitaliy Patsura
Jesus Atencio
David Howard (?)
Mike Dechaine
Skylar Woodward

@Mainplayer - rooting for you bud! Good luck on your comeback.
Yeah definitely am rooting for Mike too. Curious what he thinks the level of competition is at now compared to when he left. Lots of monsters emerged over seas from places that I don’t think were considered strong before.

It occurs to me that anyone with the table and personal space can successfully address their inner monster. These 4ners come up that way developing their own pecking order independent of the order here. They kinda prove the hype is just the same old BS.

lots of players with little chance are throwing 1000 bucks away. shows that the small entry fees lots of tournaments have, can be raised significantly and attract plenty of players with bigger prize pools.
shorter races give them also a better chance of getting in the money which helps bring in new comers.
still here the top 5 will be taking down the majority of the prize pool.

i don't know what that last sentence means, but otherwise of course that's true. none of the current euro pros came up thinking about fargorate and neither did any of the pinoys. in the latter case it's a very simple pecking order because they all match up for money.

Howdy 4ner. :D

The pecking order in USA isn't so much about achievement - which the visitors prove by kicking butt. Can't quantify or detail that without stepping on toes. I'm sure I'd enrage the Edge guys as well.
:ROFLMAO:

Regardless, evolution of the "sport" is inevitable.

The 9 ball is a $200 entry with lots of dead weight. The 1P is a $1000 entry, only 21players entered the 32-player limit 1P tournament. If the 1P had a $200 entry they probably could have had 64 players. It's a cost/numbers game, make the 9 ball a $1000 entry they wouldn't get a 32-player field.

smaller field than i thought but small entries lead to no growth. as big prize pools get the juices flowing.
my contention has always been make huge entries and short races so anyone can think they have a shot.
like poker although different make the luck factor higher and people will storm in to play.

we all know who is best already so make it who gets lucky and plays well also.
