To all the pool community, especially to those in the southest. A true southern gentleman and a great pool player, TF Whittington has been diagnosed with esophogeal cancer. He's going to be a bit under the weather for a time while he undergoes treatment. We went to see him in the hospital last weekend and he said he sure would appreciate all emails regarding all the scoop going on in pool since he wouldn't be able to get out and about for a while. His email address is

t.f.whittington@att.net

so please send him all the tidbits you can.

Also, all prayers and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all of you,
Jim Jennings and family:thumbup::smiling-heart:

Jim,
That is not good news at all. I got to know TF pretty well when I was running the Fury 9-ball tour, and you are right. If you look up gentleman in the dictionary, his picture would be there.

I will put him on my e-mail list and my prayer list.

I was worried when I hadn't seen his name on any of the tournament rosters lately. I was withholding thinking the worst...but this is just bad news. I'm going to shoot him an email today. I really hope he beats this.

you will not find anyone that is more of a gentleman and loves the game like t.f. i wish him well and hope he recovers soon.

Get well wish !

T. F. has been a very competitve player for several years. I just met him at DCC this year. I know he is a true gentleman and has really been an encouragement to several aging pool players for several years now through his excellent playing abilityI'l be 61 soon and hope Ican play as long and be as tough a competitor as he has been. Shows you another bright side of pool - being able to play til your eyesight or nerves are gone. Good luck and best wishes to you, T.F. Robert Newkirk -TX

Just to give a quick story about TF...

I was at the Players Championships in Fayetteville, NC last year. TF Had entered and was drawn first round of the 10-Ball division against the impressive Corey Deuel on the T.V. table. I was playing right next to them against Hillbilly. No one was giving TF a shot in the world at winning. Wouldn't you know it, TF beat Corey 10-5. He was so tickled that he was able to knock such an oustanding player to the left side. We all were proud of him. He's an absolute credit to our sport...we need more like him.

I feel the same way about TF - he is a pleasure to talk to, spend time with, and to play against. He is one of the true gentleman out on the regional tours - and IMO, the snappiest dresser there ever was!

Get well TF!

Yes, that is the first thing I noticed about Mr. Whittington. Every time I saw him at a pool tournament, I thought he was just back from a modeling gig with GQ.

His clothes and jewelry are second to none but it is his character and zest for life and pool that impressed me the most.

Thanks, I just sent him a note. We all need to let him know how much we respect him and how much we need him back in the game. One of the great ones.

Jeez, I am getting him one in the ether right now. TF is one of the better ones for sure..........

I sent TF an email wishing him my best. I've met him many times over the years, and he is the truest gentleman one could meet.

Jim,
You should tell Mr. Whittington to get on AZ Billiards Main Forum and read the threads that interest him. It will surely keep him in the loop but the doctors will be checking his medication closely when they observe his behavior after reading the forum.

The doctors might even ban AZ Billiards from the hospital. :D:D:D

Email sent.

I hope Mr. Whittington's family gets a chance to know how he impacted the people in the pool world whom he came in contact with.

The pool world is kind of a closed community. While "we" know practically everything that is going on with one another, those outside of the pool world know relatively little about our microcosm.

R.I.P. Mr. Whittington.

It was an honor for me to have had you pass through my life. I am a better man for it.
