Thank you WPBL and Bonus Ball

What is the real issue with bonus ball? Why can't a guy post something positive on this site without getting harassed? I love pool and everything about the game no matter which game it is. I mean bash, bash, bash, bash, and bash everything that someone tries to do something good for the sport. I have no ties to bonus ball and am not involved by any means so am not defending the game like that.

I am defending this guy who tried to make a good positive thread and has to be harassed by some haters who have nothing to do in life but make fun of everyone's post on a pool forum cause they have no life. What I will tell you about the bonus ball that I seen with my own eyes in the arena it is a team sport. I got to learn something by watching guys like Rodney Morris telling someone who plays on a pro level a better strategy to play a shot which is something that you do not see often with other games. I also got to see Europe and the U.S. on the same team working together which I know there is other countries on other teams but on the venue that night was Chicago vs Pittsburg. So explain to me why the haters had to come in this thread and bash a guy for posting something positive?

Cuz that's what they do.

Bonus Ball doesn't hold a monopoly on this phenomenon. Just try and start a positive APA thread. And who has gotten more people playing pool, and thus supporting more places to play pool, than the APA?

I'm sure, given time to think, we could come up with a variety of other examples. Bonus Ball is the flavor right now, but this will continue so long as the forum exists. People love to bring other people down.

One of the things I like most about Bonus Ball is the team aspect and uniforms. It really gives a sports feel to pool and the competition seems to be fierce. You can see Strickland still goes off and there is an action packed feel to the matches. These guys want their teams to win!!! I am sure I will get more used to the game as time goes on, but the team thing and uniforms won me over straight away.

I guess my issue is when a new (hate to bring that up again) account, notice I didn't say new member, is all BB all the time.

I get it, it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I just ordered the BB ball set, coasters and autographed poster. I will get my BB tattoo on Wednesday, so I can show it off by the 4th.

Former hater (I guess), now a convert ......

PS I do like the team concept of BB.

For sure. The subject matter is kept alive by about, gee, I'd say four or five BB minions. :grin-square:

Their is a lot of activity on Facebook concerning BB. I think the players are reaching out and their being heard. I am all for watching and hoping this will attract a corporate sponsor. I also hope this is the smaller picture of something bigger that is to come !

and i drew my conclusion on you well before BB and i would not expect you to understand my post. You just don't have that in you. I highly recommend that Lumosity site for you.

Sorry, but recommendations from unidentified sources hold no value. Now if you were to give me your real name, and list your qualifications, I might consider your advice.

Gary, I admire your enthusiasm. The activity on Facebook reminds me of the audience at a pro pool tournament. It consists of mainly pool players as well as family and friends of the pool players. Next time you go to a pro pool tournament, check out the audience. :)

What no pool on broadcast/cable TV!?!...oh my...but...a really big thanks to the WPBL and Bonus Ball for making available broadcast quality, studio produced high level competitive true pro and sporting level poll/billiards today...

I think we all recognize when someone is creating a post to promote a product and this one certainly falls into that category. However, Golubushka makes a good point in respect of the lack of pool on broadcast/cable TV.

While I agree with JAM, I am not sure, however, if it is four or five minions or, I think maybe, one or two minions with multiple accounts. If the minion uses their real/main account does that count as a minion post? I recognize that this doesn't matter except that I like to use the word minion whenever the opportunity presents itself.

I have watched both free and paid (one week end) BB. I watched some of their old archives to try to get comfortable with the rules. Have decided that the schedule in terms of times the matches run in the eastern time zone are not as attractive to me personally unless it is a match that I would really want to see.

I do see myself watching when New York (Earl of course) plays and maybe when Toronto (Canadian eh!) plays. I have pencilled in when I would like to buy in the future, however, I have already found out that, for me, BB comes second to other options like the Ultimate 10 foot, Big Foot Challenge and Southern Classic in the past few weeks. I simply enjoy watching 8, 9 and 10 ball more although BB is growing on me and I have tried playing it.

I recognize that the BB organizers have done, imo, a great job of scheduling to allow players the option of being involved in some of the events I really enjoy watching. This gives me some comfort when scheduling my holidays to include some events I like to go to live.

In the last few weeks I was able to see some Canadians like Jason Klatt and John Morra play at tournament events, play BB matches and also play in the Canadian Championships. I hope that this continues as, clearly, the potential for conflicting schedules will always be a potential problem. Again, good job so far, BB, compliment given by a non minion.

I've noticed the same thing, myself. The number BB posts on Facebook, and the number of positive responses received, far outnumber anything going on in these forums. There is an extremely large pool community outside of AZB, and it looks like FB is their new network. Heck, even Mike Howerton posts more on FB than he does here.

I also feel that every time WPBL Bonus Ball is mention it is immediately stripped apart and negatively talked about. It is the new thing right now and just like everything else it needs to start somewhere. I am not getting paid in anyway for my post or do I know anyone that personally works for production or anything else I am just enjoying that there is something different to watch and the team aspect of billiards is amazing not as amazing and the Mosconi but it gives me the same feel for the sport.
