The answers to some questions.

I kinda feel like grady (and maybe Pat & co.?) feels accu-stats are an absolute given to film all pool events. It seems a bit like a monopoly. Maybe it IS a monopoly because nobody else is trying to work the pool coverage & commentary market. Maybe that's why they tried to get away with charging so much money, because where else is anyone going to go for this unique service?

But there are plenty of people with video cameras and plenty of people with straight pool knowledge (maybe not at the level of e.g. grady and billy I., but still). I guess accu-stats finally has some competition.

Incidentally, whoever did the 2006 video did fine. Not perfect, at some times unprofessional, but I got detailed, crystal clear video of plenty of matches and I was happy.

I think blackjack has the right idea... simply mount hi-res video camera on a tripod at the correct angle and there's your production.

Commentary can be done live or dubbed in after, and the people they had doing this year did a fine job. I do not need or care to see 9 different camera angles, extreme closeups of the shooter's face, a top-down view from the ceiling, or rotating views from a dolly. I'm not saying accu-stats does those things... just that a single correctly handles camera (doesn't even need a professional operator) is perfectly sufficient.

PS: TY randy for the clarification and just in general for supporting pool.

You might also consider asking for volunteer support to help where needed.
