The Ashton Twins

Now you tell me, who could ever complain about spokes-persons that look this good, are as nice as they can be and shoot straight too? Yea, that's what I thought.

I'm glad to see the twins have a lot of support. This pic. was taken in Vegas, June 2003, at the VNEA Banquet. These two are cute, talented, and FUN.

Hello all you pool players,

Just wanted to add my two cents. I met Bev & Joanne this past Monday. They were entertaining the crowd at my fathers seniors residence here in Calgary.

Bantering back and forth, and truly amusing the crowd, these two put on an hour show for staff, residence, family and friends.

My dad had a snooker table in our basement while growing up and I never really got the knack of the game, but he was really good. The pleasure he got from watching these two on Monday was really enlightening. They joked, taught, and captivated the whole crowd.

Thank you Bev and Joanne, my Dad says "These girls are good", and you made him laugh, so I believe him!

Photos sometimes can be misleading, but these girls are "lookers", (my Dad's words), respectful, entertaining, and seemed pretty genuine.

Those are my two cents!!!

OK all you guys that are in love with the Ashton twins, and they are lovable and play real good too. Here's your chance to REALLY IMPRESS one or both of them. I am willing to give you and one or both of the lovely pool playing ladies a chance to win $10,000 playing, not Reed Pierce but my buddy, the below pictured construction worker. Playing even at Gremlin's favorite pool room, Southern Billiards in Starkville, Miss.

As most of you know, the Ashton twins are tremendous players and give the 7 ball to most of the ladies on the pro tour in the "LOOKS" department.

So, gather up your cash and impress them by staking one or both to play the little construction guy.

P.S. I like looking at them as much as you do and I'm willing to pay to see them play.

I'll put up $5000 to see your buddy play Allison or Karen some snooker on a 6x12 table and then I'll put up another $5000 to see some nine ball even - no spot. I don't know Karen or Allison well enough to ask them to play even if they would but I would bet it up for sure. I know that the women get dissed all the time but I watch Allison and Karen run out tough racks all the time consistently and isn't that pretty much the test? I mean when a player beats the ghost over and over nobody has to like it playing them.

Mass makes class - the more men playing means that the average skill level will be higher. That's it - no gender, no genetics, no hormones, no hunter/gatherer BS. Allison and Karen run racks, they are champions, they run racks more consistently than most top level amateurs and semi-pros. They have beaten male champions to win tournaments and sometimes double dipped them. Flukes? Maybe, but doubtful because it's plain to see that when you are up against a Tommy Kennedy, Mika Immonen, Jimmy Fusco, Jim Rempe etc... that you, male, female, martian - whatever - have to play real good to win.

So double the bet and get me wet :-))

John

If you don't know Karen or Allison well enough to ask them if they would like to be staked to play a $10,000 set of 9 ball then any other comments by you or me would be irrelevant, would they not?

P.S. John Barton, you wouldn't be Smokey Joe Barton AKA JJ's brother would you? He likes a good joke too, LOL.

Irrelevant in terms of us actually making a game involving them, yes. I still believe enough in both Karen and Allison's game to stake them like I described. I have just watched four matches from the Men's US Open and I have to say that the mistakes that the men were making were not something that I have seen very often from Allison or Karen.

What I mean is that I believe that if either of them had played in the US Open matches that were broadcast on BCTV and played with the same consistency that they show on the WPBA events I have seen then I believe that either of them would have won at least three of the four matches. The match featuring Ralf Souquet would have been a tossup IMO.

Anyways - to bring this back to the discussion at hand - Eydie and Bob Romano are going ALL OUT to make the Midwest Expo a JAM UP event and getting the Ashtons for AmberBock Girls is just sweeter icing on the cake.

Look me up at the EXPO - I'll be hanging around the Instroke booth - I 'might' be tempted to make some sweat bets on Jo and Bev's poolplaying abilities :-)

And - no relation to Joe Barton.

John

as a person who knows the twins very well, i can honestly say that they are energetic, classy, and dedicated to their sport. and they are good at it, it's about time they get some recognition from sponsers. they look great in the ad, nothing trashy about it.

You only have to switch on MTV to see loads of women selling their wares with everything but talent.

What an interesting comment Slasher! The Twins were featured on MTV (Canada) about a month ago!! Good old Canadian talent, and the humor and good looks to back it up. The show was called "Girl Power Day" and featured "Hard Core Candy", and "The Pool Playing Twins".

It showcased females who go out and do what they do best, survive, still be a girl, still be cool, and more or less show other girls, teenagers, and women.......that you can go out, make a living, live the lifestyle and travel....................... essentially just totally living out their DREAMS.

The exposure female athletes are getting these days is fab!!!!! And to travel to places like Las Vegas, Toronto, Montreal, New York, Chicago, and even small towns across Canada, to expose more people to "the game", is just a great way to promote Pool!! It's the Teaching, the Shows, and the Events, (like the Expo!!!) that are going to elevate and encourage more men and women to pick up a cue and want to learn.

Bev and Joanne seem to be able to effectively do this.

Keep teaching, promoting, and selling the game girls, you are good at it. (even with a little bit of cleavage......LOL)

Penelopy Pitstop (maybe could win the Indy):)

I don't know who did the graphics on the Amber Bock ad with the twins but they did a jam-up job. Very classy. "Come Play With The Girls?".......... Ok, got me.

POOL CHAMPS BREAK 'EM UP AT LUNCHEON

"Calgary pool players Bev and Joanne Ashton racked up some great support recently for both the beef industry and the Alberta Children's Hospital. The World Champion pool playing twin sisters headlined a closed luncheon this week to honour 80 of Alberta's top insurance brokers. "It was a great day. We had a lot of (pool) challenges from the guys and did some trick shots," said Bev, a World Eight-Ball Champion. The sisters plan to make a donation to the Alberta Children's Hospital with proceeds from the event. "We served beef on a bun and all the prizes were Alberta beef," said ABEX Brokerage president Duane Miller.
The hosts included Gerry Bouwers, vice-president and general manager of Industrial Alliance Pacific and John Hopkin, director of sales for the prairie region."

Positive messages and community contributions go hand in hand when Bev and Joanne are around. I'm still taken back that someone would have such harsh words for these classy ladies (do to no fault of their own). I agree with most of you, the graphics are great and the pictures are pleasing.......and the message is still the same, good work Chicago and Amber Bock.....keep it up.

And Bev and Joanne, keep demonstrating your character and refreshing attitudes!!;)

More on the Ashtons

I have been a good friend of Bev and Jo's for a long time. They have stayed with me around 2 weeks when they come to Seattle, we also usually room together in Vegas, and they were even in my wedding 2 years ago! So I would say I have some insight into their personalities. In fact, they just emailed me to find out what I think about this whole issue.

Several years ago, they wanted me to market them, because I knew they were definitely marketable, like the Olsen twins. I didn't because I was trying to find my own sponsorship, (I am currently ranked 48th by the WPBA and am also an ambassador with Viking Cues and Talisman Billiards), have a fulltime job, and 2 kids, so I was not the person to do it. However, I recognized the huge potential they had for marketing.

Twinship aside, each one is an individual dynamo. I have beaten and been beaten by both of them on the green felt. We are in each other's corners. So any controversy over showing a little skin, I find rather stupid. They have never been shy about revealing their beautiful bodies (you should see some of the photos I have! lol) and they display them every year in bikinis in Vegas. So what's the big deal?

They are fierce competitors and will do a lot for this sport we all love. They can also sing and dance like professionals too!
Their bubbly personalities complement each other and make people feel like instant friends. Anywhere they go, you will see an entourage, because they have made friends worldwide. If they don't deserve to be stars, no one does!

So whoever has a problem with cleavage, get over yourself. I know in many ways the twins, especially Joanne, is very modest. They deserve every accolade they are getting. Stodginess certainly has no place in pool anymore.

Their buddy,

Linda Carter

How about posting some of those pics? The pic of them at your wedding is a little fuzzy.

I agree with everything Linda Carter posted about the Ashton twins. They are a great catch for any sponsor to latch on to. I saw them live on the "Vicki Gabereau" show recently here in Vancouver and they came across great. Bev is beyond doubt "the undisputed queen of karoke" and Joanne sings great also. And that clevage thing...well I think that's just wonderful.

PoolFanMD,,,,God=Fast Larry? Not! Larry couldn't spell puritanical with an open dictionary in front of him.

The Ashton twins do deserve all the accolades they are receiving. Best of luck to them from the deep south.

Ashton twins

Ok, You asked for more pics and so I will share a few more. The twins and I have been an integral parts of each other's lives since 1996, in pool and out.

Now this first one, I'm not sure is PC, with all the beers (root beers?!), but this was after a WPBA tourney and we were all having a laugh. In the photo, is myself (hamming it up. Btw, I did not have any beer in my hand!), Joanne Ashton, Barry Emerson, Jennifer Chen, Allison Fisher, and Bonnie Arnold.

I am putting up 2 more, but I think I need to do them separately, since I had to go to 300 dpi and the file is still pretty big, and I think that is why they are fuzzy. But I tried!

Linda
