The B.C. Open 9-ball Championship & BCA Open 9-ball championship

No, it most certainly was NOT!!! The BC came from the use of Johnny Hart's characters from his BC comic strip.
Well, thanks for the gentle correction. I guess my recollection related to just the golf tournament rather than to both the golf tournament and the pool tournament. But Johnny Hart was a native of Broome County, so I wonder whether his choice of "B.C." as the name for his comic strip was not only appropriate given the strip's subjects and characters but also a tip of the hat (and a slight tease) to his home county.

I apologize! So many people have thought it was Broome County over the years when Hart's characters and logo were all over the place, in programs and advertising. Hart lived in Nineveh, NY, not far from my mother- in-law. I don't know that he put any of his own money into the 9 ball tournament but Gary sure enjoyed having him around for the pro-am. I remember the first year Gary presented Hart with his own stick, a dead tree branch in a box cue case.

Wasn't there also a golf tournament of the same name that coincided with the pool tournament?
Yes they did. The one time I attended the pool tournament there were a few pro golfers there as spectators. If memory serves Rod Curl (the only full blooded Native American to win a PGA event) was one of the spectators.

One of my favorite golfers Brad Faxon won the B.C. Open Pro-Am pool event teamed up with I think Earl. Once in a tv interview, after being at the top of the Saturday British Open leader board, he was asked what he was going to do that night. He replied that Fred Couples the wives and him were going to find a pub and play some snooker. It's no wonder he was one of my favorite golfers

The B.C. Open 9-ball championship according to wiki ran from 1985 to 1990, and the BCA Open 9-ball championship ran from 2000 to 2008 according to azbilliards, am I losing it or is this the same tournament with slightly different names that started up again in a later date.
Two very different events. The first was held in Binghampton, NY, the home of sponsor Johnny Hart - BC comics fame. It was produced by Gary Pinkowski. The second was produced and sponsored by the Billiard Congress of America, the last time they sponsored a professional pool tournament. It was held annually in Las Vegas.
