Lou,

I've stayed out of this until a few days ago, but... congratulations on your win. While it will prolly change nothing, I hope you savor this experience for a long time.

Eric

Thanks, Eric, good seeing you there. Sorry you got booted. I don't think that was right.

And believe me, I will savor it.

for a *really* long time

A recurring theme to me is that throughout the years, JB has had more opportunities given to him on AZB than any single individual.
I've begun to think maybe mlalum deserves another chance or two to show what he has to offer AZB also.

roadking...before you make any assumptions, you should do some homework. Maybe ask MahnaMahna if he's ever had a tough discussion or two with me before you look any worse for assuming.

JB's had rants in this 3 part series that has gotten people banned before.

So I ask you, why is he still here then? ( don't assume. )

Maybe Lou can ride this out to the sunset.

Great read Lou.
We don't get great reading here often.

I think you should write a screenplay of the event and sell it to HBO.

Thanks again, Joey. Maybe Comedy Central ;-)

Thanks, Lou;

Part 3 wrapped the story up very nicely; as usual, you gave JB his due in a classy way.....Like someone else said, I appreciate your honest style of depicting your feelings and apprehensions, rather than donning the stereotypical or egotistical macho bravado mask that some may have been tempted to do, being the winner in this long anticipated grudge match.

If you ever write a book about your life's adventures, I believe I would read it.

Thanks, wahcheck. The book will be a collection of pool stories. The one will be included :-)

I enjoyed my front row seat. It was a match of swings, I still think if you would have finished on the first day it was gonna be a hill hill match. It had that vibe to it, like it was going the distance. You need to get a picture of the faces you made after you won games and your music was starting, those were strong.

He might very well have got me if we had kept playing, Mikey. I didn't realize how tired I was.

All three parts were all great reads.

I know beyond all doubt now that if I ever got into a match like this
I'd be sweating my nuts off, dogging balls nonstop, and look like tool to the rest of AZ.
And that would sting as bad as the lost money, maybe worse.

I'm sort of torn about some of the more, er, honest parts.
Generally I think it's good when people don't shy away from the gory details.
They make for a better read.

Right now John is the Bad Guy and the Big Loser and I really feel for him.
I guess you feel it a little too.

So I was a little bummed you were willing to effectively call him a cheater,
say that he welched on the side bets, criticise the derby play,
and screencap all his nervous steering and stuff.
It all feels a bit like rubbing in the salt.

After all of John's prematch trash talk it's understandable, even expected,
but I still kind of hoped for a more olive-branchy approach to the writeup.
It's clear you guys will be taking potshots at each other for eternity.

Despite that I'm glad the match happened and happy for you,
and the recap was excellent.

Thanks, CreeDo. I think part of being honest is to, well, be honest and call it like you saw it. I know what I saw and heard, so nothing anyone is going to say is going to change my mind about certain things. But, I said what I needed to say and unless someone wants to bring it up again I don't intend to keep rehashing it and will let it go.

But we all know that's not going to happen :-)

So one thread is down, how long before he gets protection on those? Funny none of his woofing threads were ever deleted..

Awesome player, Awesome writer. I feel like the end of "The Truman Show" where the viewers who were at the edge of their seat were finally like, "Now what?"

lol, great film reference and thanks, Lux.

It brought a figurative one to mine.

Thanks for finishing strong Lou. I wonder if I've missed any of your trip reports in the past 15 years or so??? Probably not.

Here's to another 15 years!!! Keep um comin'

Thanks, BD. I'll try.

This was a good read, and more importantly, Lou wins.

Lou won the pre-match battle.

Lou won the match.

Lou wins the post-match battle.

I am excited to read JB's response, his delusional and manipulative posts are finally being recognized for what they are. Even some of this most loyal nut huggers have stopped trying to defend this crappy excuse for a person.

JB is the sucker in this match, and should always be considered bad action for him backing out on the per game bets with Lou, not increasing the bet that he was barking for, and all the side action he canceled.

I am sure the JB cue case is a great product, but the pool world needs less John Bartons. The world outside of pool needs less John Bartons. And it is for damn sure that this forum needs less John Bartons.

Thanks, MM.

Well, John did tell him to go for it. I'm actually surprised to see Lou showed so much restraint.

Quite a story in the end, and I have to say I've change my mind on the whole thing after reading Lou's version of the events. Say what you want, the whole thing turned out to be epic, with nearly a thousand viewers and some great memories. It was like the B player version of the COM challenge, and it will be remembered here on AZB for a very long time. Just as in the COM match, the cooler player prevailed, but unlike that great matchup, the loser played his heart out to the very end.

Congrats, Lou! You done it! And kudos to John for doing something I'd never in a million years have the courage to do.

:-) If you could have seen me biting my knuckles sometimes....

Thanks, SP.

New to the boards so obviously not part of what sounds like a long running dispute, but reading this story has been fascinating and at parts kinda scary to think what it must be like for both guys to end up in a 10k match.

Just watching the start of the feed on ustream now, and the tension in that room is incredible.

Thanks for a very interesting story of what must have been an incredible experience.

Thanks, zeronine. It was pretty wild in the room, you could tell there was some electricity in the air and that was all pretty cool to be a part of. One thing I'm good at is "being in the moment."

Lou Figueroa

1st I want to say Lou you told your story nice and classy. Good write up.

The reason none off John's buddy's defend him anymore is probably because they've all been Threatened to be banned.
Something you obviously have never had happen to you. Even though you continue to stalk & insult & name call him every chance you get. But it doesn't surprise me given what goes on here all the time.
I know damn well if I called you a nut hugger Id be banned in less then 5min. True story.
I mean come on someone called John a cock in a post last week & he's still posting.
I know John stirs up a lot of his problems but it's members like you that get it started.
All you have to do is just go back and read your post. You weren't excited to read Lou's story.
You were excited that you could get another chance to bad mouth John.

er, thank, RK.

It was a pleasure meeting you as well Lou. I agree about the pressure that playing in those circumstances must have felt like. I'm sure I would have been shaking out of my shoes.

The ending regarding Gail was immensely touching and well written.

In closing.,,,, nice finish! Again!!
