The Best/Worse

What player brings out the best and worse in your game, There was this one player that is a math teacher of myne in high school. The best guy in town, been playing for years, and won alot of state tournaments here in town. Anyways i started playing with him when i started out, and this guy is good, of course he is a math teacher lol, But i haven't played him for awhile, and last years league he had his own team, me being the best in my team we meet up, I was unbeatable that night, playing him and his team, the only one to not lose a game, he was mad, but i thought he brought out my best game. And my worse game can be brought out by my cousin, by the way he is good too, but this guy has a good stroke, and just gets down and fires away, and they drop all the time, banks, cuts, long straight in shots, of course he misses time to time too, but just the thought he doesn't think to much about his mechanics just bothers me, lol. oh and if this thread was already up and beaten to death, sorry, and post me the link otaye.

The players the bring the worst in me are the good ones. LOL
OK, the yappers. They bug the hell out of me.

The players that bring out the worst in me are the ones who play pool without joy. The ones that don't seem to be having a good time at the pool table are sometimes able to get me focusing on the fact they seem to have no real passion for the game. Given the level of my love for the game, I sometimes have a very hard time coming to grips with it.

Luckily, the players I play most often have a great passion for the game.

I used to play a guy who would be upset if he was a fraction of the hair off in shape. Heck he could be short and straight in on a 9 ball and feel like he had failed. No fun at all to play, always unhappy about everything.

Normally my good friends bring out the worst in my game. I don't have the killer instinct against them that I should have. I also have a hard time with "known" players. If a person has a reputation as a good player, sometimes I am beat before I start the match. If I have never heard of my opponent, that's when I normally play my best. And I am kind of a "lamb killer". If I know that I am supposed to beat someone, I usually do.

I am getting better at not letting the opponent make a difference in my game, but it has in the past.

So far as league play goes...

I excell...
With team captains who do not put pressure on me to win. Are supportive when I lose - say good try, etc. Congratulate me when I do well. Are unselfish and happy to see other team players do well even if they themselves are not doing well on a particular evening. And are constantly getting it into my mind that I am an exceptional player (even if I am not). [This is a first place winning team.]

I play my worst...
With team captains who are selfish, self centered. Do not like it if one of the team members plays better than they do. Will not congratulate you if you do well - will say nothing and look disgusted. Actually seem happy if you play worse than they do. [These teams do not do very well.]

In money tournaments...

I excell...
When playing the best players who are overconfident and know they will easily beat me. And the better players who are kind enough to clear all their balls out of my way so I can run the table (8-ball). (I know I better not miss one shot.)

I play my worst...
Against lesser skilled players that I know I can easily beat. And those who leave all their balls on the table making it difficult to run-out (8-ball). (I know I will have a few more chances at the table.)
