The Biggest thing in pool...

I notice the only 2 events thats read "gauranteed" for 1st are the 10ball and one hole. In order for that statement to be legit , this is just my opinion, they will have to hire an outside TD such as Jay and post up well beforehand. Otherwise players will be sceptical.

I hope it all comes off , it looks like a great event.

One Pocket rules glich

Looking at the website under the rules section
http://www.theworldclassic.com/index.php/subpages/rules

I notice that you guys have made the mistake (imo) of including the BCA rule about an object ball having to contact a cushion for a legal break. One Pocket is NOT typically played that way (it is played that either the cue ball or object ball has to hit a cushion -- just like any normal safety). For a few days, the DCC site also had that glich in their posted rules, but they quickly corrected that to the standard accepted practice a month or so before the actual event. The BCA rules simply have it wrong, and it would be a mistake for you guys to fall into the same mistake.

Well I think if they are guaranteeing to pay what the webiste says, thats just like added money....From what i understand, regardless of how many show the payout u read is agreed to be paid out...now if they dont cover that with entry fees and what not, but they pay it out..is that not added money??

Ill be there. Hopefully the whole tourney.

Might even get to hit the strip clubs since the warden/fiance has to work during the week.. I cant wait.

I see nothing has changed. Still concerned about the whole thing. My team wants to compete in Galveston.....SPF=randyg

I was supposed to meet with the principals in this on Monday and haven't been able to get into touch with anybody since. I'm just clueless.

Moody Gardens is owned by the Moody Family of Galveston, which owns American National Insurance Company. I worked for American National Insurance and they would not give any discount to the employee's, so good luck in getting and good rates. If you do, get it in writing.

The tournament sounds interesting, but the website is missing alot. If they don't get the details posted soon, I may plan a vacation elsewhere.

I have a call into my contact at Moody Gardens, we hold several conferences per year there. I will post room block information on here as soon as I hear from her. Surely, if they have a contract set up with Moody Gardens, they will have a room block that is less than the $150 we see on the website.

Don't bet on it. So far not many things are correct.....randyg

Maybe everyone should give them a little more time before they tear it apart, we are talking about Sept.

If they are not ready to go now, what's going to happen at crunch time? randyg

You're right, their room block rate is also $149, which is almost the same as the internet rate. Galveston CVB just came to present to my conference planners group yesterday and Galveston is really hurting for business right now since they had so much damage from the hurricane. They are giving out GREAT rates for events right now and this is MUCH higher than it should be.

Moody Gardens is nice, but anywhere in Texas that isn't a 5 star resort should be able to get $120 or lower for an event that SHOULD be as big as this one is being advertised to be. If the room rate is set that high, that probably means the contract is set-up to not guarentee a very large number of rooms. A 10-day event that is supposed to be this magnitude should have been able to get a MUCH lower rate if the organizers REALLY think it's going to be as big as it's advertised to be.

Even the Texas State BCA tournament that was held at the Omni that is RIGHT on the coast in Corpus two years ago was only $80 or so per night for our group since it was such a large event.

I'm still skeptical...and I DEFINITELY won't be staying at Moody Gardens if I go at all.

right now this thing just has a bad vibe 50,000 first place in ten ball and they can't spend the money to hire a decent web designer the whole site has a complete lack of information and its very amateur looking on top of that.... it's all so shady right now.
