A friend was telling about a product displayed at DCC this year called the bone. Appaently its a jumping aid for jump shots, if anyone has any more info or a website I would really like to check it out. Thanks

Saw It

I saw the guy who was selling them, using it in the tournament room.

Basically, it looked like a piece of acylic (clear) type materiel cut into the shape of bone, perhaps a foot long. It came with a matching acrylic handle, similar to that of a mechanical bridge, that was pretty short, perhaps a foot and a half (just going from memory here).

He was using it to jump -- pretty effectively -- over balls, out in the middle of the table. Pretty amazing. Don't recall how much he was selling them for.

I saw Tom Simpson demonstrating this tool in the AZB room. It was very large (seriously huge!) and bulky, and actually broke while he was using it.

Personally, I think it is a gimmick.

Is it allowed?

According to the new BCA rule changes that went into effect Jan. 1, players may use their own bridge "if it is similar to standard commercial bridges." I don't really think the dog bone could be considered similar since the handle is way shorter and the head is way larger. Anybody else have an opinion on this?

avail on eBay

As I recall seeing this or something similar, the theory is to train you to place your cue at a consistent and correct angle and height to jump
