The Border Battle

$50,000 in prize money is huge and not a word anywhere until the end of the event. Was this a basement battle or border battle? A few emails and post to the right people and websites would have done wonders to build interest and a following.

I think they just took 50,000 pool dollars and burned it. They could have promoted a Canadian Open with $50,000 added, $300 entry - 128 player field and done something great!

I hope the 3 people that knew and the 2 teams bought $50,000 worth of stuff from sponsors.

If TSN just paid $50,000 to fill space, that changes everything... Better pool than air hockey or something.

That is the case, TSN was the major sponsor and put up the 50K and btw it will be shown on network primetime, so yes it will be worth it!

Perhaps TSN was making an attempt to film a show and air it on tv before everyone knew the results. I love watching pool whenever it is on but I usually know the results of the matches and it does remove some of the drama.

Imagine seeing advertising on TSN for an upcomming billiards program and not knowing the outcome. My guess is that it would probably draw more viewers and word would spread like wild fire around the country, making it better for the advertisers and pool fans. Perhaps word will go out to forums and interested parties when it is ready to air on tv, to help build interest.

Just my thoughts

I think bottom line is that we are pool fans and would have loved to be kept in the loop.

We were certainly *not* inconvenienced in any way/ shape/ form by the event happening, but if we don't know about...

If a tree screams in the woods, does a tree really scream?
Only if a bear shitz on it afterwards. :D
