The break says it all in 10 ball.

A GREAT DAY

I watched that Efren/Gomez match last night.Great match,by the way.But the difference was definately the BREAK.The power break of Gomez was unbelievable.
I really enjoy watching 10 ball over 9 ball due to the fact the BREAK is so important.
Do the soft breakers(Efren) have any hope these days with these young power breakers?

I think the most important thing for someone like Efren is to make a ball. He doesn't have to crush them, but he does have to consistently make something. He can still shoot and move well enough to win. Look at what he did in the fatboy challenge at the derby.

Lee Van Corteza doesn't have the best break either and he shoots well enough to win.

I do agree with you though. If you took a power breaker and a weaker breaker the one with the power will probably win more. It takes a special person (read Filipino) to outrun that kind of advantage.

Gomez has to have one of the most powerfull breaks I have ever seen. The cracking sound is ear piercing .lol

That car in your avatar is awesome, every time I see that I think....F*#k is that nice.Is it a car of yours?

one thing you don't see though is efren leaving his cue ball on the plush carpeting. That seems to be the downside to Gomez's cool break.

I always thought you had to crush the balls in 10-ball like JA, SVB, or one of the other power breakers on tour too. The name of the game in 10-ball is make a ball on the break, control QB, spread the balls, have shot on the 1-ball or lowest ball after break, and keep control of the table during the game. Weather you power break, hard break, med-hard, med, or whatever doesn't mater. What matters are those 5 things. Any way you can do it is right. If the rack is tight you can break med speed and get all of the above to work for you with practicing. Of course you have to be able to pocket balls well too. Johnnyt.
