I have been struggling with the Break in 9-ball, like many of us! i played the other day and was having alot of trouble making balls on the break, until i started playing around with the cut-break. although i am not sure how much to cut the one. although i was getting the desired effect on the cue ball. I Was not making the 1 Ball, i think i was making the corner-ball.

Does anyone have any links leading to videos on the cut-break, i watched the buddy hall cut break on You-tube, but he really doesn't go into too much detail.

I think you have the desired result for the cut break, wing and/or 1 ball pocketed. If the 1 ball misses the side pocket, then it should lay up by the corner pocket....and if your cue ball is in the center of the table, you might be in prime position for the run out.
 
Thanks for the tips.... didnt get a chance to practice today, i am gonna work on it tomorrow definatly. I really apreciated the table layout. i would say that i land the cue ball there but it did seem to take that course!

I'll let you know in more detail after tomorrow

I have a copy of Charlie Bond's book which includes a chapter on racking secrets by Joe Tucker. Is there a volume by Joe Tucker which contains more?
 
What does racking secrets have to do with the break ! ! ! !

I am not looking to cheat! just trying to get a better break is all. and how will a rack secret help me when my opponant is racking....LOL

Thats why you need the book... not really a laughing matter.

There are things to look for when your opponent racks that will actually help control whitey after impact.
 
My break improved after watching that Colin guy's video. I can't break anything like him, but what used to be my weak point is no longer a hindrance.

Most importantly, make sure whatever ball you are aiming at that you hit dead-on. I know that's where all of my bad breaks come from is an off-center hit.

Racking Secrets alerts you if others are cheating & also lets you know if there are imperfections in the rack which you can use to your advantage.
