Could be a massive match up in store..

After playing what in my opinion is the perfect hybrid cue sport for a while now and After talks with a few different players haven't worked out regarding a money game I'm putting it out there to see if anyone else is interested..
I'd be willing to play anyone in the world at the discipline of their choice on the Chinese 8ball table. So -

- Chinese 8ball table
- 8,9 or 10ball
- Race to 50
- Minimum £100,000 pot

Other terms can be discussed but none of the above is negotiable.

PM me any serious Interest..

Somebody's looking for a money match and I'd nominate Darren Appleton for this challenge . What's your call ? :wink::cool::thumbup:
 
If Appleton believes he has an edge he still won't really believe he has enough to take the risk. If anyone were to take this on with a chance of winning it would be a snooker player - but I doubt they'll bother. Potts needs to play some 8,9,10 ball tournaments to get his name out there in the world of pool - then a snooker player might take him on. Some bloke who has won at E8B and a tournament in China that a handful of punters have seen online? He's not on the radar so there is no value in playing because there is nothing to gain if you lose.

C'mon Gareth - play some pool.
 
Mika Immonen, Edgie Geronimo, SVB, John Brumback... I could go on, but seriously. Someone needs to take him out and run off with his money.

He's well known in the UK cuesports community so I'd be surprised if the majority of snooker players didn't know who he was.

In one of his YouTube videos he says he has no desire to play US pool so I don't think that's likely (other than of course on a Chinese table which let's face it is unlikely for anyone to accept).
 
Yep I'm sure all the snooker players know who he is. The "US" pool world likewise. But is he well known to fans of those cuesport variants? Would a match up raise the profile of both players?

It's interesting that he says he has no desire to play US pool. In another YouTube video he is asked which set of rules he prefers for "English" pool - Blackball or World Rules. He says he thinks that WPA "American" rules would be better for the red and yellow ball game.

It wouldn't raise the profile of a high ranked snooker player, but pool players here in the U.K. earn a fraction of what snooker players can so that may be more likely.

I have no idea why English pool has resisted for so long in all honesty, World rules are tedious, Blackball is a massive step in the right direction. Personally I'd like to see all pool games agree global standards, so I think his view has some good logic behind it, if WPA rules were adopted I wouldn't object!

Yep they creep closer and closer to WPA rules but seem reluctant to get there. Proper pool rules and full size cue ball would make it a game that I would respect. The red/yellow aspect has now become so ingrained that going to "spots" and stripes would be a stretch but no reason why you can't call the pocket.

Well it's interesting, if you make the table and balls bigger, but tweak the rules you effectively have Chinese 8-Ball, so I do wonder if that could be the future.

Short term I agree though the cue ball should be 2" like the object balls, I'd also prefer 8 foot tables instead of 7 foot, however as with the US space concerns make that a non starter (and we have a lot less space here)!!

I don't mind 7 ft in a pub. 6ft is silly - if a pub has room for a pool table then it has room for a 7 footer. "Proper" tournaments should really be played on 8 footers all the way from the first round to the final. Pool clubs often have 9 ft "9 ball" tables and 7 ft "English pool" tables - it can't be too much of a stretch to stick a couple of 8 ft tables in for competitions,

You'd think think so, but I guess demand isn't there. I'm pretty sure I've only ever found an 8 foot English pool table once...and it was not in a good state!

But I agree with what you say I'd like to see tournaments use 8 footers.
 
I doubt anyone would be interested in this challenge. The only one that comes to mind, who has the money and the skill would possibly be Mark Selby. Appleton is another possiblity, but he'd have to get backers, obviously.

There may be some people in China, though...
