The Cue

I'm sure it's a stupid question but i'd love to hear everyone's take on this. Have you ever had a cue stick that just felt absolutely perfect? I've had two cues that I've played with for a long time but never really had success in leagues or tournies. About two years ago I bought a Dominiak sweet sixteen from Mr. Dominiak and things have changed. I won my first tournament with the cue, i've been one of the top players in my league with this cue. The reason for my post is because I bought a 314 from shamadam (btw, one hell of a great guy! The shaft is perfect) and put it on one of my old cues. I played a match tonight and was just playing like...well, let's just say not well. So, I switched to the Dominiak and they started falling in. Not just 2 or three ball runs. The whole damn rack! And my break improved with a house cue . It just seems that when something feels right it just feels right. I was amazed. I guess it goes to show how cerebral this game is.

Well thank you very much for the compliment Andy. I appreciate it. Remind
me to give you some rep. for such a great statement. Anyways, I want
to chime in. I was playing one night a couple of months ago, and I was
using my playing cue at the time which was a Joss and a pre-cat Predator
314 shaft. Its the same shaft that I've been using for a while. I'm still using
it by the way. Anyways, my buddy Ron (Rayn cues here on AZ) had just
finished a cue and asked me to try it out. Well, I was running decent balls
that night, but just couldnt get out. 1 thru 5, 3 thru 8, I'd get out from
the 4, but just could not run out a whole rack. Not one. Well I break, make
one ball, and then proceed to run out the rack with his cue, and his shaft.
I then break, make 2, and run out the rack again. The cue hits solid, just
different, but the balls just keep falling in. I'm not making perfect shape,
but it doesnt matter cause I cant miss. I give him his cue back telling him
that I'm batting 1000 with it, and I dont want to mess it up. I
pick my cue back up, and its right back to the old 4, 5, 6 ball runs, but no
more full table runouts. Using my cue feels right, but I just keep jarring
balls with it. Sorry to be so long winded, but the just of it is that I know
where your coming from, and I'm not too deep in the cerebral department
myself. Thanks for making it too the end guys. :)

As several Azers know I have been thru about 8-10 cues in the last few years. I have had a Bender, Mottey, Judd, Phillippi, Scruggs, Lambros, Sowder, Varney, and several others. I have had so many cues that when I get a new one the local players ask when I'm going to sell it!

Then I came across a Hunter Classic cue made by Wes Hunter. I like the way it hit but the butt was to skinny. A friend also like it and bought another Hunter Classic cue. To make a long story short(er) I traded my very fancey Judd for a Wes Hunter "Sisters" cue and some cash. This Wes Hunter "Sisters" cue is absolutley the best cue I have ever owned. One shaft was too small and I sent it to Wes Hunter to make a new shaft using the rings off the old shaft and it is the nuts! I like the 1994 Hunter Classis "Sisters" cue with the 2009 shaft made by Wes so much that I took the other old shaft (with the entire cue) and sent it to him to make me another new shaft using the old rings on Monday THIS WEEK! This cue is a very good looking cue that fits me perfectly and I won't be selling this cue!
