Looking forward to attending my 10th straight, 13th overall Derby City Classic.
Finally able to swing a room at the Casino Hotel. I'm ready for ya ICE STORM, no more bunking in my truck or staying at the Holiday Inn. Gonna relive the glory days of having a room at the Executive West. Endless supply of party favors.
According to the DCC event flyer, they are back to awarding an all-around champion. Hope this stays true. Truly a shame that attendance last year didn't allow it to be financially feasible ( for the first time I believe). Busty was the best all-around last year.
Back to the glory days for a minute. Perhaps everyone can offer up a similar story that explains why every DCC is special. One of my favorite experiences happened back at the Executive West. After hours, Alex was gambling with Keith McCready on one table and a 8-10 year old Landon Shuffet and his Dad practicing on another. After Landon and his Dad ended their session they watched a little of Alex and Keith. As you can imagine, they were both jawing back and forth quite a bit. Landon's Dad then said it was time for bed, but Landon told him he wanted to watch longer, so his Dad told him to come up to the room soon. I was amazed that he allowed this, but I could tell then that Landon was no ordinary 8-10 year old. What a player and fine example of the possible new breed of American Pool Players.
Can't wait to see all the familiar faces. I have favorites from all over the world.
