Now I know that poker has severely effected our beloved sport....

I cannot point any fingers as I myself have turned to the darkside, but will always remain faithful to the sport I love....

With new restrictions on online gambling, do you think Pool can come back out of the trenches?

Also, Attendance at Valley Forge last year was pretty bad.... (the PIT especially) Are you going this March?

I think even with the online restrictions, people find a way to get around them. Just like anything else. When the government/big business tries to restrict anything, it gets cracked faster. The IPhone supposedly is locked to a certain service provider, and this is hard coded into the phone. People had this beat within weeks.

Also, a lot of the pool rooms started hosting poker tournaments. The action junkies don't care what action they are in, pool or poker, as long as it's action.

In fact, they barely care if there is any money in it, as long as it "feels like action". In Lakeland, Fl, I think a lot of the tourneys barely pay anything week to week, and payouts are almost in a league like format, but even those have put a hurting on the actual pool playing.

I'll be there in March.....and sooner if they open early! :D

Am i losing my mind or did my post get deleted?

Ok, the nutshell version.

I still play poker online regardless of what the law says.
Pool will NEVER be big time, EVER. If it ever does get there, i won't care.
Pool had it's chance, and failed. Multiple times. Either due to promoters killing it, using and manipulating players, or the players themselves being so damn selfish that they acted in ways which let promoters to drop them altogether.

Pool is dead as far as i'm concerned, and i could care less if it ever gets big time cause i don't take the game seriously anymore.

As for the expo, that's a huge bad roll that happened last year when mother nature decided to dump a ton of snow on us that weekend. I know LOTS of the weekend warrior guys who said the heck with it.
If there is no snow, the people will be there this year. It's the only local highlight on the local pool horizon.

I stiil play poker at several different sites online.....

the laws haven't changed anything except the ability to do direct transactions with your checking account......
and there are many ways around that....

Pool was dying before Poker hit its BOOM.....
Poker has certainly hurt pool, but the quality of people in pool has hurt pool even more in my opinion....
I know there are some great people who play pool, but there is more bad than good....

Poker is easier to learn and play, If a poker player makes a quick score and gets up and leaves with the money (pool players cry and ***** when this happens playing pool), there are 9 other players at the table, willing to lose money to you. Multiple games are available to play. There are thousands if not millions available to win in poker at any given time then in pool (just ask any 18yo in california and every 21yo at the wsop)

Most pool players as well as poker players are for the most part gamblers (nothing new here). They would rather win money as easy as possible then have to compete in a difficult competition just to get the money as in pool. thats why they invented sports books! Let the teams and horses do it for you.

Is poker killing off pool. Not by itself. Casinos are popping up in every state. I would guess by the year 2050 every state will have a casino if not 2...
