So, the Wife and I head out around 6pm for the 1/2 hour ride down to the Sheraton.....which was basically traffic free!. We got all of 3 feet into the building before our best Buddy Jimmy pulled us into the Bar!......As you might guess..or not....we had a few drinks, met up with our old friends and had a great time.

Next we made the mildly long walk through confusing corridors to the ticket window where Allens Son was waiting to take our order for weekend passes. He looks good! $35 beans for 4 days is a good deal.....and we are on our way into the EXPO!

We checked out the upstairs area first seeing tons of great cues, cases, gadgets etc.....not long til we met up with few more of our old friends. Having been in the pool world for the last 20 years, we seem to know quite a few folks at the EXPO. The Pro and AM events are going OFF!...I don't feel the economy is having any issues with the pool world at the EXPO this year!

Next we headed downstairs to see the REAL ACTION....we bumped into Dave aka Spiderweb right off at the TAR booth. The TAR crew was there doing there thing. They have a real nice booth set up with a Diamond bar box. We picked up a few shirts to support TAR and they gave us a great deal! Thre was also a cameo appearance of "The Sleeve"

We took a walk around the lower level buying a few goodies, saying hey to people, checking out the action pit......btw...its ON in the PIT! all the action you want! We watched a few friends getting in action, and I was surprised how busy it was for the first day!

On a side note..I don't think I will leave the expo this year without buying a cue from the folks at NORWELA cues! They caught my eye last year, and this year also!....traditional cues and super nice designs! not to mention the owner is a super nice dude!

We then settled back to the TAR booth and got a round o drinks for the crew to break the ice. We BS'd with Dave, JCIN, Donnie, a few guys from Jimbos Army.....after an hour or so, Justin asked if the wife and I could watch the booth for a while so they can go have a bite and chill out....uhhh you think?!..I just met these guys .....well we met last year, but, to hand over the TAR booth to new friends was a very cool honor. We sold a few shirts....a couple hoodies....and tried to work in the new OB-2 deals which I think will happen over the weekend :) I know I'm gettin one!

All in all we had a great first nite....and I really didn't even figure on going today :) We have a Fantasy room thing set up for the next couple of nites, so we dont have to worry about leaving<<<<getting sh*t faced and driving :)

I'm hoping TAR gets some action going for the stream, I'd really like to sit in the booth and see how they do it in person. If nothing is happening, I'm sure we can stir the pot and get someone in the box!

ok...I'm tired...I"ll have my laptop down there the next couple of days to try to keep up.

later....Gerry&Missy

THANKS JAY!....in these tough money times, I"m glad you accepted my resume' :)

another funny thing that happened last nite.....on the walk over to the Expo room from the bar, I looked up and saw John Schmidt passing us so I said....World Champ coming through.....hows it going John?.....He laughed. Not 2 seconds later Johnny Archer passes us, so I had to say....Holy crap!....this place is crawling with friggin World Champs!....we all laughed.

I'm actually gonna work a few hours this morning.....then I'll report later from the Expo.

The EXPO

Thanks for your vote of confidence in my cues (Norwela). I hope you found something you liked and purchased as I am retiring and will not be back next year. I've had a good run and now its time to go fishing. Again, thanks for the pat on the back---we all need something like that from time to time.

Jim
