The forum is back to normal...

Hmmmmm. Hakala gets banned today. You join today. A poster writes the screen name of "Dhakala", and you reply with "The Zen Cueist"?? Adn that you were his student?? Then later you write that you lost track of him 15 years ago??

Well, bite me, kiss me, roll me over and call me Betty! If that ain't the biggest friggin coincidence of the year, I don't know what is.

The Zen Cueist was here?? And he got banned?!

When?

I'm afraid you have it wrong. Another man was the Zen Cueist's student, and I learned some things from him. HE lost track of David Hakala over 15 years ago.

The screen named leaped out at me because I've been for D. Hakala for a long time.

You seem to have a problem with my being here. What is it?

Klopek, where'd you get that avatar?!!

Wondering about that fellow? Check this out:

Then check this out:

The "herpetologist" stuff is the key.

Good work, Klopek!
Thanks, I got the pic from the auctionbytes page you found. I ran it through photoshop to brighten it up and added his screen name.

Anyone who wants a copy of the avatar, PM your email addy and I'll send it off to you. It would be hilarious if everyone in his F.A.N. club started using this as their avatar. Maybe we can get Mr. Wilson to make it one of the default avatars.:D

Can someone please define just what a "troll" is?

In Internet terminology, a troll is usually someone who enters an established community such as an online discussion forum, and posts inflammatory, rude, repetitive, offensive, off-topic or otherwise disruptive messages designed intentionally to annoy or antagonize the existing members or alter the flow of discussion, including the personal attack of calling others trolls. Often, trolls assume multiple aliases, or sock puppets.

A common tactic that many trolls resort to is the strategy of using multiple usernames or pseudonyms that are ready to use just in case a debate or argument emerges. By using multiple usernames (called "sock puppets" in this context) and a variety of artificial personalities the troll would have the ability to protect his or her image in a community. A troll would then also be able to increase his or her influence in an entire online community by using those other self-serving nicknames to draw attention towards his or her most favored account. Many users with more than one computer, however, such as hardware buffs, computer repair shops and thrift stores often give each computer a unique name and use that name as the e-mail or newsgroup account username to identify the computer being used rather than its user. Contrary to the purpose of deception this practice is followed with the intent of creating a verification record for the computer that was repaired or tested rather than to promote malice, ill-will or evil intent. Sometimes the email reply address or other changeable header line is used for this purpose rather than the username line.

LOL, already stirring the pot, I see.

Cheesey, I don't have a problem with anyone. Granted, your knee-jerk defensive reaction merely confirms what we already suspect, but I DO NOT have a problem with you being here.

However, I do have a problem with deception, as do most Members of this Community.

My oh my... Mr. Hakala is credited with being a "freelance technology journalist". Do you think he'd have the smarts to create multiple accounts on forums like this one??

Just wondering, is CheesePower, a play on words, Chi's Power?

The handle is CheesePower, "Vonny". And my knees aren't jerking. I can see the winkie-winkies flyng all over this thread since I got here.

I guess there's no sense in chatting with you "friendly" folks. I'll just wait until the man I'm seeking gets back.

Good stuff! Did you read his article about the bank? LMAO!

First, his account had insufficient funds to cover (4) debits which totaled under $10.00. Next thing we know, he's demanding to talk to the Branch Manager since he's such a "well established customer"! I guess Denver banks don't offer overdraft protection, huh?

I needed a good shot of humor!

Jeez, watta joke.

Since herpetology is the study of snakes, (I admit I had to look it up)
where does that leave Hakala on the whole self-awareness thing??

Introspective, indeed!!

Cheese,
If you would take some time to read the numerous inflamatory postings by dhakala, you might begin to understand why he's not very popular in this forum.

While it's none of my business, I do have to wonder why you are so eager to seek him out? It's not like dhakala is the Dalai Lama of pool (or anything else for that matter).

Thanks for another suggestion, Flex. I'm pretty new to the Internet.

The man who taught me lost track of the Zen Cueist over 15 years ago.

Allow me to get this straight.

You're "new" to the internet and stumble upon our happy abode and further stumble into a thread that people are talking about something you can't figure out and throught great perserverance and further interview of the posters here you figure out that "Dhakala" is The Zen Cuist and your great search of 15 years is going to be complete in a week.

Wow.

Talk about a coincidence, right?
