Revisit All Your Old Threads !

Hi 9BallPaul,

I noticed a lot of hype about this new wonder chalk called Kamui chalk on Ustreams US Pool Tournaments recently and to be honest I never gave much thought about it until I read your thread on the Industry Buzz About Kamui Chalk.

Well you got me thinking and woke up my sense of humour.Nice to meet you on AzBilliards.:):D:thumbup:

Have fun and keep smiling :)

Thanks for re-visiting this thread

I am 61 and will be retiring from my job of the last 22 years in March of 2012 when I turn 62. I have worked in 7 factories, been married 5x's, and played pool since I was too young to remember how old I was when I first played pool. My granpa used to take me to the neighborhood bar that had an 8 ft. table with leather pockets (how long since that kind of table was in a bar?) and played rotation with me. My feet didn't reach the floor when I sat on a bar stool. My granpa drank boilermakers, and he bought me Cokes in those little 8 oz. bottles till I couldn't drink any more. That's one of my best memories, thanks.

I am still in pretty good shape for an "old guy". All the factory work has probably been as good for me as it has been bad. I still move around pretty good. That helped one time lately when some young guy was bothering my young wife. That was at our favorite place to stop and have one or 2. He left, we didn't. Hmmm. I feel like I am starting to get a little too old for that crap, and those young guys are starting to look a whole lot bigger than they used to.

I still love pool. Its been my main interest for a long time now. Maybe some day I'll try fishin', when I'm in my 90's or somethin'. :)

Have a great day! SteveD

I was only in Frisco a couple of times while going to the Navy's nuclear power school at Mare Island. Went to Haight & Ashbury and offered myself but had no takers. CraZy place.

I did meet the original 9ball Paul at the Palace and even played him a few cheap racks. I was just a hillbilly kid that had never been anywhere much and was far from being in stroke, but he impressed me to no end. He could use a soft stroke on that pool table and somehow get that cue ball to go exactly where he wanted. I had never seen anyone (and at that point I had only seen a very few truly good pool players) play position with such soft precision. In fact, I don't think I've seen anyone since that could duplicate his style.

He complimented my game but I think he was just being the gentleman he appeared to be. Seemed to be a decent guy.

The only other time I was there I spent my time playing on the 12ft snooker table up front that was devoted to golf. Enjoyed that as well and even did a little better so far as the money was concerned.

A fairy came in a threw magic dust on me as he waved his wand. He did the same to everyone at the golf table and probably others. Let's just say the little guy behind the bar took great offense and I almost felt sorry for that freak.

Does anyone remember the Bug Eye guy who used to play at Congress Billiards in Florida, Miami I think. He looked like Peter Lory, seems like he dressed somewhat sharpe, and I think he wore light green dress pants. It was the frst time I ever saw 12' snooker tables, had to of been 1968 or 69.

I've tried for a lifetime to match his wizardly style, but I'm not gonna make it. You're right, the guy played like no one I've seen before or since. And he was playing me for peanuts. In the end, of course, I got robbed.
