Every once in awhile I am approached by someone looking for someone else to put them in action many times after they are down a set or 3... The conversation usually has a hook in it somewhere that is supposed to make me feel good about putting my money in action with them.....

Here are the more simple ones... "He shit out", "He got lucky last set", "I miss cued", "I slipped...", "We've got the nuts", "He sharked me last time"

to the more advanced.... "I laid down so I could up the bet", "We been playing for drinks and I have lost them all and now he will gamble", "I just got MY mixture right"....

What are the best ones you can remember hearing from a player who was low on the hip but high on the gamble???

Chris, I don;t care what excuses they have or if they're wanting to be staked from the 1st set on. I've made it clear to one or two of the locals here in Knoxville that I don't back anybody, period. If I'm gambling then I'm the one whose going to play. If I lose then I know I didn't dump. If I back someone I'm risking it all and if we win you gotta give the player about 40%. They have to win about twice as much as they lose just for the backer to break even. I don't mind giving someone half my action, but forget about asking me to be the backer. Just my 2 cents and that's about all it's worth.

Any action in Ktown Chris? I don't get out much anymore since the bullshit local government shutdown Breakers for no good reason at all. What a crock of shit that was/is !

Have a goodn'

"I didn't do well in the tournament but you turn me loose gambling and look out! I guess I am just into the gambling thing."

Chris,

I don't want to be staked but next time I'm in town you can sure buy me a steak :)
Was hoping to head your way this week but plans changed at the last minute. Happy Independence Day.

One of the favorite lines I've heard from someone looking for a stake is: "That guy over there just beat me out of all my money. Can you back me for a hundo so I can bust him and get my money back?" It was delivered with much conviction and sincerity. Alas, I declined that opportunity.

This is what I said after losing a 500 set 15-2. My friends had 1/2

We're talking about KC f'n Donehey. He can't beat "off".

I went all in the 2nd set and won

*I don't think he would mind me using his name. He was standing 3 feet away when I said it, laughing his ass off hoping I could get the money up

Badbeat, Daniel and Scott Howard are playing some at KBC tonite, if you are down that way , they will play. Give you something to do.

Nice offer DoubleA, but I got off work at 6 and headed home. Played in the basement with my 93 Franklin SW that I got a couple of weeks ago. Pau Ferro on Pau Ferro with a single maple veneer. This cue looks beyond classy and may be the best player I've ever had in my hands. You'd love it and I hope to show it to you soon.

Hope all is well with you and Ktown D.
