the king

what ever happed to jim rempe?is he still playing?an if so were????????

Last I heard he was still playing some, but I don't know first hand. I really liked Jim Rempe's style of play. Controlled and smooth, it was fun watching him shoot. I wished I could have seen him play more in the 70's when he was on the road.

Jim Rempe is my favorite male player of the 70'a & 80's era men pros. I had the pleasure to meet him once in Vegas during one of the BCA championships. He has always presented himself with absolute professionalism and dignity. I have numerous accustats videos of his playing, along with his instructional tapes. Great stuff to watch. A few years ago I exchanged emails with him about some straight pool lessons. Which I wound up not being able to do. But I have heard (and I have no idea of how accurate it really is) that he has had some health problems in recent years, and so is not able to play at the level he once was. I don't know what those health problems may be, if there really are any. But I can say that this fan of Jim Rempe's definitely misses seeing him in action.

Jim Rempe will always be one of the finest true genetleman players in the history of the sport, and I count myself lucky at having had the opportunity to meet him.

Jim...

Jim lives south of me in Scranton PA and would often come up to here in Binghamton NY to play in the NYS 9 ball tourney. In my youth I had the good fortune to meet him about a half dozen times. He, as others have said is a very gracious man and a gentleman. He is my favorite pro player and I treasure my vintage Meucci JR5. Great thread.

I know Jim has back problems that hampers him he believes (as do I) that table height causes him back issues so it limits his playing severly. That along with the lack of viability to support yourself solely playing pool have shelved him for the most part

Jim Rempe the OG

I always liked this picture. Style, class, talent and a perfect snapshot of a special time in pools history.
