Can you explain in more detail about the 3 ball practice rack?The template rack does make a 9 ball break available, knowing it and hitting it are not one and the same.
My victory over John Schmidt in the race to 2 nine ball, on a 7 foot Diamond. I made the 9 on the break the first rack! He gave me The Look as he racked again. He wasn't sure if I knew the break or had just shit it in.
3 ball with a template rack is my favorite practice session. The precision of the strike is more important than the Power. (That comes from Cole).

I don't think they are good for any pool game. I was an early adopter of them but I'd rather play RYO. They make it so anyone's grandma could make the wing ball.Call me a purest but I don't think these templates are good for straight pool. Rack variability is part of the game.
