So Walter Tevis who I have never heard of apparently wrote some books. One is called the man who fell to earth. CBS All Access will be doing a series on this. No sure if this should be in the pool section but someone just posted a thread about the queens gambit. So I am posting this.

Thanks

David Bowie? Saw it on TV, don't remember a thing about it.
I have no idea what your talking about. This show is not even made yet. All we have so far is a blurb about cbs doing this show and what it will be about. We don't even know when or if it will make it to the streaming platform. We don't know who will be cast in it.

Considering the amount of time you spend here, I am surprised you admit to not knowing who Walter Tevis is.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Oh well, look it up on IMDB. DB is an extraterrestrial who gets stuck on Oit.

It's a movie, fairly weird one at that, I watched it not long ago since it was listed as one of the better original looking SciFi movies. Reminded me a bit of Logan's Run although harder to watch, needed a bit of editing and plot transitions. I'm betting the other show was listed because the guy also wrote The Hustler and The Color of Money which any pool player worth his chalk should know about so yes by accident your post does fit in the pool section in some way.

Not sure if you are pretending to be ignorant of things or really are, but you put on a good show either way.

I thought you left or got banned or something. Please stop these nonsense threads or at least put them somewhere else.

Hang the nine, pretending no. He knows who Mr. Tevis was. It's just another troll.

That's what I meant about a terrible thing to waste. All this drama for attention. His cry for help. Imagine a life build around trolling forums. I will no longer feed this troll.

Never heard of him before the guy posted about the queens gambit. I am not sure why people think I am anything more than a "ball banging" Amateur.

Walter Tevis was a world class writer! Similar to The Color Of Money in that the film version did not remotely reflect the book, THe Man Who Fell To Earth was a wonderfully written novel by Tevis. The movie diverged significantly and was only mildly interesting because of that. Tevis only wrote six books but all were best sellers. He spent most of his time as a Professor of Literature at Ohio University and his free time drinking. Alcoholism and smoking were his downfalls and led to his early death at age 56 from lung cancer. One other book by Tevis I highly recommend is Mockingbird, a story about life in New York City in the 25th Century. It should be made into a movie!

Tevis also covered the sport of Pool for Sports Illustrated and wrote a wonderful piece about the Dayton tournament in the Dec. 16, 1974 issue. He was also my mother's BF for several years. :)

It's been done three times already. 1976, 1987 Made for TV movie and re-released in 2011.
