Hi, I would like to know if anybody has watched the Monk DVD series? If so what is your thought on their DVD's . Is it worth it ? I might have a good price on their DVD's ,but I want to know the feed back on them first. Thanks to all in advance!

I am not a big fan of the Monk series. The notion of a "click" makes me roll my eyes every time. I am, however, a fan of Jimmy Reid's No Time for Negative and Almost All I Know series. It depends on what level you play at, and what you're looking to get out of the material. E.g., stroke/stance/aiming, or kicking/banking, or defence etc. Jimmy Reid's series is strong in kicking/banking, and pretty good for stance/aiming. The Pro Series is good for drills, and the Oyster's series has a couple of good tips in it if you can live through that horrible music and his very slow talking. I had to watch it at 1.5x speed on my dvd player to tollerate it . . . :)

i've bought a lot of books lately on amazon.com only to realize my play is probably a lot more advanced than I thought...
Depending on where you are at for skill, you just need to find some drill that you enjoy that is going to benefit your game and work on it for 5-6 hours till you master it and then some, and then move on to another the Next day. It's proven the brain works best this way I've read.

Lol, funny you mention this. Reminds me of how I got his DVDs off ebay for about $70 some months ago. It had great info on kicks, and, in particular, diamond systems (what I wanted to learn at the time). But, I kept nodding off probably because I had difficult following him. I thought it was only me cause he had lots of great feedback on this set, but I just couldn't finish it. Anyhow, he offers a 100% money back guarantee so I wanted to send it back. Took about 1 week to get an answer back, and on his first reply, he accuses me of returning it after bootlegging it

Good stuff, but you have to watch it more than once, and practice what is taught.

I have a set and there is a ton of information on the DVD's.
Wish that the shots were illustrated somewhere on the DVD's much like others are doing to help with the visualization and maybe print a screen shot to take to the pool hall to try it out. But you will have to listen to sections at a time over and over to pick it up. But as mentioned above, the DVD does drag on.

To be quite honest, it's just like any other dvd...if you're not around a pool table as you're watching......take notes as you watch and take them to the table with you.

I have the Monk 202 (Banking & Kicking) and that's what I did since I don't have a table at the house. It was like Tom "Dr Cue" was right there with me.

Yeah, they're boring to watch...but once you get the material down and get to apply it, you'll be glad you put the time in.

Just my opinion.

I have about 15 Instructional DVD, I try and whatch an hour Daily of one of the group to refresh my memory, and keep the information alive in my HEAD.
