The Mouse That Roared...lol

I think Mike S. just showed all the ways not to prepare for a big match. He did it under the bright lights for all to see and hear. Talk is cheap unless you back it up. Mike fell into his own trap. He must have been paniced when he realized the little guy across the table was flat going to torture his ass. Not having prepared properly Mike S. was like a deer in Efren's headlights. Efren most likely recognized this weakness immeditately and then quietly, gracefully, and with the skill of a magician dispatched this pretender. Mike could have talked until he was blue in the face but everybody within ear shot could only hear the quiet confidence displayed by the true champion in the room. The dye was cast. The little man with the smile on his lips was prepared to toy with the mouse that roars. Talk about how to influence a crowed. Efren has many skills off the table and one of them is likeability. Unfortunitly for Mike the Mouse, Efren is a champion in the HEAR &NOW. What is the lesson to be learned? If your going to shoot off your mouth and say 'I AM THE BEST IN THE WORLD!!!'...you should actually have the skill to back it up. Sure Mike S. once was a feared world beater and he talked the talk while he backed it up on the table. Mike can still talk but can he compete with the 100's of todays top players? Good question.

I agree with you. I think Mike is a big mouth and no action. Sure he was good before, great before. But to try and disrespect Efren, thats a shame. Mike is so lost he doesnt even know how to respect the game anymore.

"The Mouth" is no longer taking the game seriously enough to consistently win against the newer crop of players. He has been resting on his laurels, which at one time he did in fact have, but those days are behind him. Where he "practices", the other pro players "train"! Big difference! And the way he "prepared" for the match, by taking a brisk walk, then back to his hotel room for a smoke and a cup of coffee. Isn't that tantamount to having a Krispy Kreme donut and a diet Pepsi?

Add to that, his mouthy comments. "The women can't break", "I wouldn't have played it that way", etc, etc. Then he enters the first match against Effren and makes himself look like an idiot by doing some of what he said he wouldn't have done. One thing he didn't do much of though, was spend time at the table. One of the true sportsmen saw to that!!

Guys, it's a show, the intent of his "act" is to entertain. He did this, in a way. Your even talking about it.

He said multiple times that he really didn't know what was going to happen in the finals, without competition, without playing matches up to the finals.

Greg,
If what you say, "it's a show", is true then Mike has made a couple guest shots being byed into the lime light by grace of his friendship/deal with Kevin T. However, if the IPT follows their own rules/by laws then the 'player' in Mike is going to have to humble itself and find the fine game he surely once pocessed. BS walks; we all know that...if Mike S. respects the game that has given him all he has and he truely wants to 'play the game' then he has 40 miles of bad road ahead of him. This road has many pot holes and each pothole is a world class pool player who could careless what Mike's gig is; the reality is what are you going to do with this shot, right here right now? World class pool play is hard maintenance and all impostors will be exposed. Given the money on the table past laurels will get you a nice hot cup of coffee...don't get me wrong. I want Mike to be out there playing his old top flight game because that will keep him out of the booth...LOL
Those top 100 spots on the money list are going be held by todays great players not by anyone who used to play great...If the IPT is for real then no one is going to beable to talk a good game for a card, no one will be legislated a card, and no pretenders will hold a card at the end of this year.
Gregg, we are talking about Mike's "act" and maybe we are all part of the script but if the IPT is for real than his gig is up and he will have to prove IT between the rails. Nothing less than total passionate dedication and a bunch of talent is going to get you a card from here on out....LET'S GET READY TOOOOOOOOO RACK'MMMMMMMM......

I will bet you that Kevin is cracking the whip on Mike for him to get really prepared.

...and I will bet you it doesn't make any difference! :D :D Sigel will never even make it past the top 32 later this month...if he makes it that far.

I havent seen the IPT yet(maybe never will, cant get the channel) but it sounds like Mike is putting on an act for entertainment value. That may be but to be honest I never liked his smug little ass before. The IPT is not the first time he bashed woman players. I've seen him make comments years ago and there was no need to "act" then. He's an asshole, period. He may be magnifying his persona for the sake of "the show" but he's not making it up. He believes what he says IMO, its just that now he can let it all out for "the show".

I think that Mike has to step up to the plate. He talked the talk, and fell on the walk. He's not as good as he used to be. He's got some rough roads ahead of him if he is to continue playing the game. I hope KT doesn't give him a spot, he needs to earn it like every other player on the tour.
