All reading this please correct me if I am wrong!

Mike Seigel is automatically in the final?

If so what kind of contrived crap is that?

Is a guy that did not have to fight his way through the field lend credibility to the IPT?

If this is a good move, please explain?

I do not mean to be a consistent critic of the IPT, but this seams weird.

You're just learning this now?

This whole first tournament is a bit odd... Hall-of-Famers automatically being in the 3rd rouind, and Sigel being in the finals automatically.

But so what? KT is just showing appreciation by throwing money at the pool players of yesteryear that never got the money they deserved long ago. So he's tossing Ed Kelly, Robin Dodson, Ray Martin, Lou Butera et al some cash as a big fat "thank you" for promoting pool when no one else would. And since Sigel certainly falls into this category and is a personal friend of KT's, he gets the ultimate nod of appreciation.

So yes, this tournament is ass backwards. But so has the state of organized professional pool for the past 50 years. KT is just trying to make ammends, and this is his one blatant attempt.

After this there won't be any gimmicky stuff like this, and the tournaments will have no special spots reserved. So let's all just bear down, appreciate the IPT and be happy that pool players are finally getting paid.

Yes and no. If he wins, it will show that he still got game. On the other hand, we won't know if the win was a 'fluke' or not.

I do, if he is the best player. It'd be nice to see a semi-retired pro pick up his cue and resume where he once sat -- above the pool world.

The last thing I want to see is Sigel get slammed in the finals, because I think the IPT would lose credibility.

Win or lose, I think we all want to see the highest level of pool here. Looking at the SIgel vs. LJJ match last August, I see Sigel had 7 break-and runs. That's roughly on par with the 35% figure that the pros are posting right now in Orlando, so I think Sigel might put up a good show.

Is there anyone that actually wants Mike to win?

Here's, how I see it. Each year, there will be a King Of The Hill. The King Of The Hill will be by Invitation (points leaders for the previous season. Next November The King Of The Hill will have this year's winner sitting in the hot seat, just as Mike Sigel is siiting in it now. Since there was no previous year, before this event they held a "Battle of the Sexes" which by the way was a very enormous thing in tennis a few decades ago and not a bad idea from the IPT. All in all it comes down to... "You have to start somewhere".

Remeber the reason he is in the finals(according to KT) is that he is the current top money winner because he won the match against LLJ.

According to KT and the IPT, LLJones would automatically be in the final if she had won over Sigel.

From the post so far this wasnt explained and only said it was a pat on the back to Sigel...

This is true that LLJ and Sigel had a huge advantage by already playing, but lets not forget it could have been LLJones in the final automatically had she won(I dont think KT or sigel were thinking that but oh well).

Just saying it didnt auto-go to sigel, there was a bit of "reasoning" to why he is automatically in the final.

Sigels is by no means "OLD" or out of it. I feel if he wants to win, he'll practice til his arms fall off not to embarrass himself. He's always said "there's no $$$ in pool, so I quit" well here it is Mike, make the best of it now!

Sigel win?

I just hope the best player wins. It would be nice to see Mike get knocked off the hill, so he can have a real chance of showing us that he has what it takes to come back and prove himself. I mean says he's got it all the time. I'd rather he show it.

The advantage of the hill is that once you are the king, you get to watch all the other players during the week, and get that last day to look for weakness and plan and practice on exploiting it. The player coming up the ranks doesn't have any idea how the king is playing that week and is at a tactical disadvantage.

I like that they did this first hill tourney giving so much money to the legends of the game and it still gives the ones that have been working hard at this every weekend a chance too. I thought it was a great way to start this whole thing off. It has been fun so far.
