My thoughts and my views on the OB-1 cue shaft I received direct from Owen-Bunnell Inc.

Could be an interesting read. Much thanks for looking!

Link is here, friends!

Anitokid, very interesting article. I'm still trying to adjust to mine I bought a few months ago, still no luck... Interesting photos as well on the pool players.

I bought an OB-1 a few months ago after 2 years of playing with nothing but a predator. It took me a couple of days to get used to it and I thought it was nice except the dead feel to it but then I bought a cue that had a fusion shaft on it. Anyone who doesn't know what a fusion shaft just go to Annie-O's website she has them for sale there as the NT shaft. Gotta say....this shaft is better than any I have tried and I've shot with 314 and z shafts both 1 and 2nd series. I liked all of those shafts but if you don't like the dead feel of the OB then this may be the shaft for you. You can find blanks on the web for $75.

love mine

I've been very happy with my ob-1 so much so i've purchased them for all my cues.

I do have to say that i can't stand the Talisman tips, so the first thing i do is replace them with Snipers!!

thanks,

Cbi

My ferrule looks different than yours. Mine has a spiral aspect to the wood rings. Yours looks like a series of wood washers stacked up. I'll try to remember to post a pic tomorrow.

BTW, a Kamui tip is a nice addition to the OB-1.

had one made w/o joint collar so it makes a wood to wood on a half sneaky uni-lock topped off with a sniper. lots of feel in this wood stick, it is the sheits, imo.

How long did it take you to adjust to how whippy/soft the shaft is compared to others...

That was the main problem I had, it felt like an old Meucci shaft.

I bought one about a month ago, it took me about 2 days to get used to mine.

I'm definitely sold, and will probably buy another one when the money falls from the sky.

All the balls in your header graphic are ovals... if you can make those with that shaft then you are a god. I do want to try one out sometime though. I may try one at the next viking tourney.. Mike always has plenty there.. hell he has plenty of everything on those tables.

It was probably an optical illusions then about the spiral thing. Here's a pic of mine.

the next big thing for some not for me

:) I bought an OB-1 and gave it a serious test drive. What I can say is for me at this point with my game I don't think it the shaft for me. When I explain my feelings about the OB-1 to people that play with one most have to agreed with me "the thing is a little to whippy" it reminds me alot of shooting with the old original Meucci shaft (I know this statement is 180 degrees from the hype going around about this shaft this is why I felt I should share my experiences with others).
The thing does seem to transfer tons of spin to the cue ball and for those who are looking for that this is the perfect shaft.
I know there are a bunch a great players that play with the OB-1 shaft maybe if I ever get good enough my opinion will change but for now I'm out.

I agree!

Hopefully he will respond to my question about this. I couldn't get over the whippiness

I tried an OB on my Joss a bit ago, did not notice that is was any less stiffer than the regular shaft, but it did change the balance forward. That part I did not like at all. They heavier than the stock shafts, and seem to be heavier than the Predators I have tried. Felt I had to manhandle the cue a lot more, which threw off the smoothness of the stroke for me. On the upside, it had more "feel" to me than the Predators.

I have used 314's for about 3-4 years now and it didn't take me long to adjust to the OB-1. It took me about less than an hour of serious play all by myself to do it.

I never experienced a whippy/soft feel with the the OB-1 shaft. I sincerely believe that it has an exceptional feel, so much so that i want to further improve my game - like be an even more better player. And I kid you not! :)

I've used predators for a few years...took me less than an hour to get used to it...I thought it shot great...when I went to the fusion shaft though(read previous post) I got the same touch with a definite feel. When I went back to the OB 1 I definitely no longer liked the way it felt....it just seemed like I was hitting with a solid piece of foam. Great shaft for some people....just not for this guy.
