Hey - I got a pea bottle ..and peas.

Anyone know any games that use the Pea Bottle? I can't remember ...I remember playing games with the pea bottle 20 years ago ...but my mind is *mush*.
 
Kelly pool is on different websites (BCA, etc.),,,they show different games with the peas/bottle,,,most around here can't count,,,LOL,,,so, anything to do with numbers doesn't get much playtime
 
The Best Pill Game is.........

Crazy 8 - 1 through 16 are the pills - 8 & 16 are freebees - A player (up to 4 can play) can shoot from the 1 up or 7 down or from the 15 down or the 9 up. No one knows what the other players have. When it is your turn, you have to declair when your shooting the 8 ball to win. If you make the 8 ball to win, you must show what 2 pills you had, that are now gone from the table. We had a ball playing this in the late 60's. Had to watch out for players with more than 2 pills in their pockets though.

Are you playing in rotation? How are the 8 and (16?) free balls? There is no 16 and what if the 8 goes in by accident? How do you determine who shoots first? What if you have the 12 and 4 pea you now have a strip and a solid? What happens if someone else shoots your balls in, are you out of the game?

Yes - this 'crazy 8' game sounds like fun with the kids .... but I can't quite make out the rules from whats posted :)
 
Crazy 8

You can shoot (in rotation) from the 1 up or 7 down or from the 15 down or the 9 up. In other words, there is always 4 balls to shoot at. No one knows what the other players have. There are a 8 pill & 16 pill in a complete set. If you draw the 8 or 16 pill it is free and you anly have to make the remaining pill/ball to be on the 8. There is a lot more strategy and skill than there seems. Of course it is meant for medium skilled players as a good player can just run-out at will.

some at my place use the pills to play a version of 9 ball/ring game (using pill 1 thru 9) ,,,when somebody shoots in their pill, everybody pays them $XX,,,when someone shoots in your pill, you have to pay them,,,and so on,,,,gets exciting when people can't remember their number,,,LOL,,,to stop somebody from keeping a pill, everybody should tuck them under the rail (face down) in a specific spot,,,then count the pills before drawing again,,,,FWIW

Several different games. In my area we played racehorse.
I will describe if anybody's interested.

we play 15 ball rotation everyone gets a pea if someone makes your ball you pay them what ever your playing for but you get to continue playing. If you make your own ball everyone pays you.

Hey thats kinda kool - But, if your ball is "higher" in rotation than the other players - and you run - it'd be a "bust" right?

This is to engage my kids into play - get some monopoly money - LOL
 
pills

When playing some of the described games we used to make everyone stick the pill in their ear so that nobody could cheat. I used to laugh at the people before I started playing because everyone was always walking around with these funny red things in their ears.

if you ran the table you would get everyones money because you made their ball plus eveyone would pay you for making your ball.
Out of order balls are ok as long as you hit low ball on table first.
 
We play this game called "two pill check". Each player draws 2 peas. You rack all 15 balls with the 1, 8, and 15 on the corners. You have to make your two pills, but the trick is, only certain balls are "open". Meaning only certain balls can be shot at. At first you can only shoot the 1, 8 and 15. Once the 1 is made, then you can shoot the 2 and so on. Once the 8 is made, you can shoot at the 7 AND 9. Once the 7 or 9 is made, you can shoot the 6 and 10 and so on. You also work your way down from the 15. The first player to make both of their pills wins. You HAVE to announce immediately when your pill is made. You can't hold out. I hope this is an accurate description. It 's a good Saturday game when nothing else is going on. NO BALL IN HAND, FOUL RESULTS IN BALL BEING SPOTTED.

Also, the person that draws the 4 and 12 is automatic winner. Sometimes this pays double. It's up to the players.
