The Predator 10 Ball event

Two things spring to mind that were wrong with the tournament:
1. 96 "Invited" pros. There's that awful, very discriminatory word again. Such a fine affair should be a truly open tournament.
2. Second place should always be at least 50% of what 1st place pays.

I thought 1st was 17k, 2nd was 10k, that would be more than half of first.

Just watched the 2001 World Championship where 1st was 65k, 2nd was 30k.

3. The live stream Sucked!!!

I adjusted my settings to set refresh to 15 seconds and that helped a lot. It wasn't perfect but good enough considering the top matchups.

I'm trying to keep players from being discriminated against like I was. It's bad enough that there are 4,6 and 8 man invitationals that no new, exciting young players ever have a chance of playing in. Now even the 96 man event is an invite. That sucks, period.
Now, as for my background, I've had 21 events, with respectable prize money and no player ever had to kiss somebody's ass to get to play. I'm going to continue to do tournaments but I have to start with medium size ones first.
I plan on telling stories and regaling the members here with historical data. Ask me about anything. I'll gladly talk. BUT these invitational events have to stop. They're not fair. No qualified player should ever have to sit at home and not be able to play in almost any big event he or she wants to or have to qualify.
As for the fiasco in Arizona, the UPA gets a sanctioning fee and dues from it's members. How can they not be responsible for at least most of the prize money?

One of the few pros I talked to while in Vegas was Rob Saez. He tried to get BigNasty (Chad) to comment on the 'new' ranking system & how that would effect pool. Chad took the fifth. I had never met Rob before but never shy with my words, I interrupted the conversation to ask him what the rankings really mean. When you have invite tournaments, the Prince of Abdul or whatever his name is plays in the World 8 Ball, Mike Sigel can play in any tournament even if he hasn't played in a decade = what do rankings really mean? I agree with Grady. Who cares that the BCA is now in charge of the rankings. Charlie Williams & Predator will invite who they want, the 14.1 people will invite who they want, the Prince of Abdul will invite who he wants. Golf has rankings that work. Tennis has rankings that work. Lesser sports too. Pool needs to wake up. BTW, Rob agreed with me.

AS do I Watchez......I aint nobody, but been around pool all my life and have many pro player friends, Robby being one of them. This shit has to stop!!! I dont play for a living....but gosh damn if I did I would be hot....

Maybe, but the price was right and I am sure it will get better with time. It's hard to complain when the stream was FREE!!!:D

FREE!... is good, but they should have paid us to deal with this one:eek:
