I've been eyeballing this book/dvd for awhile now and I have to ask, is it worth the money?

Would really like some feedback about this book or the dvd version that is out now. Thanks in advance.

**Guess I should have used the "search" feature first** DUHH..

My friend lent me The Pro Book and his DVD's. It's a complete look at pool and preperation to becoming better all the way up to pro level. It requires many hours on the practice table learning his prescribed reference shots including memorizing banks, safties, kicks and posistion shots. His theory is,is if you memorize these reference shots, is that all other shots in pool are related variations of them.

I've read the book and it is good, however, I've only touched on the drills because I've got enough drills that could keep someone busy for years ..LOL.
His reference shots on posistion play are very simuliar to Bert Kinisters reference shots on his 60 minute workout tape. RJ

If you are going to be dedicated to do his reference drills, I would say get the book and vids. You'll learn a lot.

Yes yes yes yes yes!!! That book really put my game into competitive shape. The best ever and I feel that it far outclasses Phil Capelli's book (whose title escapes me at the moment).

In your opinions, outside of visuals, does the DVD offer any instruction that the book doesn't provide?

Do the DVDs come with the book or are you supposed to order both? Or, do you need the book if you own the DVDs?

Thanks for any info you guys can provide. I'm looking for new ways to re-motivate me back into pool and a disciplined training regiment may be the ticket.

The DVD's are soley concerned with showing the reference shots on posistion play, safteys, kicks and banks. All those shots shown on the DVD's are illustrated in the book. If you were to only buy one or the other, I'd get the book.

The book offers all kinds of extra stuff that the DVD's don't have. It has chapters on fundamentals, execution, equipment, conditioning (fitness, breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, stretching, aerobics, diet and nutrition etc etc).

Section two has 6 chapters on the mental game. Included are mental training (affirmations, mental conversation, subliminal messages etc etc) concentration,Rituals and routines (inncluding pre-shot routine), game styles, match dynamics, and momentum.

Section three has three chapters on the emotional game including motivation, goal setting and peak performance.

Section four has three chapters on putting it altogether including letting go (left brain/right brain, fear, ignornce training and performance) training programs and game plans.

This book has everything in it for a person to reach pro level, henceforth it is called the pro book.Everything is left up to your God given ability and your dedication to practice.I highly reccomend this book.

The DVD's get into explaining the boundry shots (as he shoots them) where as the book only maps out fully the main reference shots. I didn't quite understand the boundry shots clearly from reading the book, however, when I saw the DVD's everything became crystal clear.

I think my friend payed about $120 for the full packages which is probably well worth it IF you put in the time to learn it. RJ

Footnote: Boundary shots are simuliar related shot varations of the main "Sweet 16" shots he illustrates.Every shot in pool is a varation of those 16 shots according to Bob Henning.

Thanks a bunch for the feedback. I'll likely wait until the Valley Forge expo in March and pick up DVD/book package there where competitive pricing on training aids/books/videos/cues should exist.

I've bought it and started to read it, but for me it hasn't proved useful. It provides a training system. A particular way to practice and drills to do.
If you've the discipline (which I evidently don't) to follow it I think it will probably improve your game.

Exactly. I have several pool books/videos with pracice systems and great info. If you don't get on the table and do the prescribed work, then it is useless info.

The drills I have done, have helped me tremendously.I think one would truley benefit by doing the prescribed drills in the pro book. RJ

So much to learn......so little time to practice.

Bob is a world class instructor and I really enjoy all of his instructional material. He has a great talent for teaching players how to play this game and all of his material is worth every penny!

Just received the DVD set and watched the first lesson "The Sweet Sixteen". Seems like a great training system.

Off to the table I go. :)
