In your opinions, outside of visuals, does the DVD offer any instruction that the book doesn't provide?
Do the DVDs come with the book or are you supposed to order both? Or, do you need the book if you own the DVDs?
Thanks for any info you guys can provide. I'm looking for new ways to re-motivate me back into pool and a disciplined training regiment may be the ticket.
The DVD's are soley concerned with showing the reference shots on posistion play, safteys, kicks and banks. All those shots shown on the DVD's are illustrated in the book. If you were to only buy one or the other, I'd get the book.
The book offers all kinds of extra stuff that the DVD's don't have. It has chapters on fundamentals, execution, equipment, conditioning (fitness, breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, stretching, aerobics, diet and nutrition etc etc).
Section two has 6 chapters on the mental game. Included are mental training (affirmations, mental conversation, subliminal messages etc etc) concentration,Rituals and routines (inncluding pre-shot routine), game styles, match dynamics, and momentum.
Section three has three chapters on the emotional game including motivation, goal setting and peak performance.
Section four has three chapters on putting it altogether including letting go (left brain/right brain, fear, ignornce training and performance) training programs and game plans.
This book has everything in it for a person to reach pro level, henceforth it is called the pro book.Everything is left up to your God given ability and your dedication to practice.I highly reccomend this book.
The DVD's get into explaining the boundry shots (as he shoots them) where as the book only maps out fully the main reference shots. I didn't quite understand the boundry shots clearly from reading the book, however, when I saw the DVD's everything became crystal clear.
I think my friend payed about $120 for the full packages which is probably well worth it IF you put in the time to learn it. RJ
Footnote: Boundary shots are simuliar related shot varations of the main "Sweet 16" shots he illustrates.Every shot in pool is a varation of those 16 shots according to Bob Henning.
