hi all! can anyone pls. teach me how to get a cue's exact balance point. is it done without teh shaft or with the shaft? do you measure from the joint face without the shaft or from the butt end? or measeure with teh shaft attached?
a friend told me to take teh cue with the shaft on and put the cue on top of a cube of chalk theat will act as fulcrum and find teh point on the cue where it will stay balanced as in a see-saw type diagram. and measure from the butt end to teh point where the chalk is at that now act as a fulcrum to balance the both ends of teh whole cue? is this right?thanks!

Put the shaft on, then balance the cue on a thin object. Measure from the end of the butt cap to where it balances. This is probably the most common measurement, but some will argue it should be from the tip, etc.

I measure mine from the end of the butt cap(18" - 18 1/4")...JER

Simple way ....

Have it put together.

1) Grab the butt halfway from the joint.
2) Go halfway again from halfway on butt.
3) Try to balance your stick on finger.
4) Smalll slides till it balances.
5) Measure from end of butt cap to the line that was the middle of
your finger.

This is the easy and fast way to do it.
