Found this book recently, handy little resource. Don't know how wildly out of date these are, but the book seems pretty old.

The biggest change I can think of is hitting snookers....
...back then, a referee had to deem 'insufficient' effort before the ball (or balls) were put
back.
Now it is the automatic 'miss' rule in most cases.

Although the "miss" rule is often not used in unrefereed play.

Yes, I've seen that in unrefereed matches....you can call 'miss' but you can only put it
back once.

I'm still lukewarm towards the miss rule...it encourages a roll-up even when the ball on is
very makeable.
Saw a man lose 40 points on one snooker in the Canadian championship....
...and he has won the title three times.

The date of publication is probably just a few pages in. Here are pictures of mine from '84 and '88 and they follow the same format. "Decimal Day" in the U.K. was February 15, 1971...that is when they changed the currency from the old, "pound, crown, shilling, pence" system to the current 100 pence to a pound, just like dollars and cents...so your rules are obviously older than that based on the price. By my research, it looks like that Rule Book costs about 1/10 of a pound so if it was somewhere near 1971, about a quarter or so.

SO, there are 2 of us on AZB.

Count me in. That makes 3 of us. I just bought my own 10 foot table yesterday. Every pool room I play in has different rules for snooker but I'd like to play by the official American Snooker rules on my home table.
