i happen to be very un-handy. in a recent post troy posted if you take 120 sandpaper, and cup it in your hand, you get a nice shape on your tip. question, do you have to be handy, do accomplish this? i use the ultimate tip tool because i'm not handy. it seems to work well. here's what i'd like people to post, products that shape the tip that work real well, for the handy, and products that work real well, for the not so handy. for instance, i used to use the cue cube, and it sucked. is this because i was not handy? or because it sucked, or both? is there any tool out there that shapes the tip, faster and better, and easier than the ulti-mate tip tool? i'd be curious to know. how many other pool players out there find, their not so handy, and find after they shape their tips, they become flat instantly? i have noticed though, that the red fibre backing seems to make my tip last a little longer, or is it my imagination?

It's a freakin piece of sandpaper and a leather tip, not crown molding!

Go back to bed.

Go to www.billiardwarehouse.com/accessories/tip_maintenance.htm
Item #10-132 or #10-133 Cue tip trimmer. The rounded plastic or metal with the sandpaper will allow you to round it off as much as you want. Also,
Item #10-110 It's George Tip Tool in a dime will get those edges down to where it won't flatten.

I have always used a cue cube, they dont wear out to fast, they are very easy to cary, and I don't have any trouble getting a dime radiuos with it. The one that i was really disapointed with was the ultimate tip tool ( wore out to quick and dont like haveing to change the pads) I aslo have one of those " crown molding " shapers hehe incase I cant find my cue cube but I hate it.

Whatever happened to shape it to a dime radius and then just shoot with it?

By that I mean shape it once, when new, and then let your "game" shape your tip.

It reasons that if your style is all centerball you'll have a flatter tip than if your a player who has to maximize english on every shot.....

Just a debate I'd like new opionions on.....

The Ultimate Tip Tool is the best tool that I've found for shaping tips. However, be carefull when using the tuning fork end to repair mushrooming. You can scratch your ferrule before you know it.
