The slickest/smoothest carbon fiber shaft?

Just wondering what do people believe is the slickest/smoothest carbon fiber shaft they have tried? Please only respond if you tried several different shafts (I'm trying to avoid responses where someone just gives the shaft that they bought).

Thanks.

It might be easier to say which one is the gunmiest. 1st Gen Defy.

I live in Florida, and I seriously don’t use a glove on my CF shafts. I used to wear a glove full time as I’m a 30+ year glove user. I have a Revo, Cynergy, XLR8 and Mendoza Schuler (primary).

YMMV

So has other generations of defy gotten any less gummy? I tried one, didn't want to use that cue slick stuff and returned it. But I have to say, I liked the shaft otherwise.

Someone just got one and told me it wasn’t anywhere near as gummy as the first time, so I am making an assumption that there was a change.

I’m with you. I loved the way it played, and the dereliction was very low. But I tried a used one and couldn’t get it though my hands!

I'd be actually interested in a stickier carbon

I'm carbon for life now and am seeking more friction from both a potential future shaft and also .....gloves, they're all way too slick except the cheap IBS ones on Amazon

you may like the defy then. I'm pretty sure they're wrapped in some other than carbon fiber. Although I like that idea the one I had was too sticky. If it's gotten better, I may try another.

I've owned, shot and experimented with the following: Revo, Cuetec Cynergy, Meucci Carbon Pro and the Bull Carbon. They all felt equally smooth. My main shooter is, and has been, the Revo 11.8 w/ Everest tip, but the other three all felt the same in my bridge hand, with gloves and without.

I've wondered what happens if you try to sand the shaft? What happens if i use 10K paper
10k paper wins vs wood, but vs carbon? Probably just wear off the paper with no effect would be my guess. Who knows, with guys complaining about em being 'too smooth' maybe the 10k scuffs it up.

For those who thought there wasn’t much in common between pool and, say cross country ski racing, here’s an experiment I just did that is interesting.

I dabbed some ski wax remover (I have Toko HC-3, but Swix and Rex make the same thing) on a rag and dissolved some Swix HF-4 (fluorinated very hard wax for very cold conditions), then rubbed down my Becue CF shaft, and let the solvent dry off. The shaft is noticeably slicker. I skipped the last waxing step of polishing with a 3K grit paper.

I wouldn’t run out and get all this stuff (HF-4 is really expensive), but if you have a ski shop nearby you might get some laughs from the techs there if you come in and ask if they’ll rub down your pool shafts for you. I have a Defy on order so I’ll do a before and after on that and report back next week.

You might like the Pechauer Rogue. I came to it from the Cuetec Cynergy. The Cynergy was extremely slick, almost too slick / slippery. The Rogue is very smooth and still slick but not quite as slick and definitely not slippery. It has a completely different looking weave pattern and never left black residue when cleaning it (like the cynergy) so I'm not sure if it's a different material or a clear coating.

It plays great. Definitely digging it.

thanks

mcdermott offers two radial joints on their site .843 and .855 (seyberts just shows radial with no numbers)

can anybody advise the difference?

I have a predator radial butt

Defy is made from cf not just wrapped in some. They chose to put some lame finish on them. By FAR the worst cf shaft i've tested. Mushy/quiet hit and bad finish. Don't know what they were thinking.
