The Sound of a Well Pocketed Ball

On a Rasson it sounds so sweet... click, thunk. But on my Diamond it's more like click, "your cleaning that you SOB". LOL
There is no better pocket to hit a ball into than a Diamond…..gimme that thunk.
A snooker pocket with leather has a sweet sound….if you hit it dead center hard, the pocket iron rings.
Sone of the old Anniversaries sounded like a gunshot.

The Diamond is subtle but sweet.

YES..........Snooker table. Center cup is God-Tier sound.

I love the sound of a leather pocket. We need a commercial table with leather pocket liners.
It will never happen bc of the wear and tear plus extra cost to keep replacing it. Rooms have better things to spend money on than pleasing the few like us who view crisply pocketed balls into leather pockets as sweet sweet music. Closest thing in pool to a thick-thread swish in basketball.

My old Diamond Pro ball return is more ‘thunk’ ‘CLUNK’. (Like the snap sound when you win on an old pinball machine.….rewarding, but likely too noisy for most).

I've never really liked the click sound of the first ball pocketed into a drop pocket. To me it sound like a beer bottle cap falling on a hard floor.

a slowly hit ball drop is a great sound, as is a full pocket speed strike of a cue ball to ob ball is very nice sounding as well.i try to get a good hit sound as much as i can lol

I always liked the sound of the old T-rail pockets when the ball contacts that little maple cup in the bottom of the leather drop web.

I don't remember the brand of the old ten footers. They had a solid leather pocket in the back that was backed up with another layer of leather or maybe a leather protector inside the pocket. Either way, two layers of full grain saddle leather, about a half inch of leather.

I was just starting play, sneaking in at fourteen. The basement of a grand old building was a pool hall. Had a row of these old tables. The cover came off, the light was turned on, and the table was brushed when you came in to play. It didn't smell like a church, maybe Fast Eddie's church of the good hustler. High ceilings, you knew you were in somewhere special. The sound of the balls hitting that cow hide was great and when the shot was straight in I always shot it a little harder than needed to get that distinctive, addictive, thunk!

It's not always about the sound of a ball hitting the pocket, though no doubt that can be highly satisfying.

There's an old story, I don't recall exactly how it goes but it was something like this: a blind guy was sitting at a 3C match. I believe Hoppe was one of the players. After the match, maybe Hoppe, went up to the guy and gently asked him about being blind at a 3C match. And the guy said something like: oh, there's a world of difference when you hit the balls and when your opponent hits the balls. And that's how he "watched" the match.

Sorry I can't recall more and wouldn't even know where to look for it but it's sorta the way I remember it.
