We've all made some great shots while playing. Sometimes we impresses other people, sometimes we impress ourselves. Other times, it was just a great shot, and you'd love share. Maybe you didn't have an opportunity to brag about it in the moment. Maybe you did. Maybe you'd like to brag now?

Thought it would be cool to start a thread in regards to the various stories we tell, and the shots we've made. There was a thread in regards to telling people "Nice Shot" on the forums a while back. I understand where some people wouldn't necessarily be able to compliment a person at the time. So, if you'd like to describe a time you saw an excellent shot being made, feel free. If you'd like to share one of your own, feel free. If you'd like to include pictures, and diagrams, that would be awesome as well. I have a few geared up to share myself, but I'll let someone else get the ball rolling.

A guy I used to play 1pkt and in 10 ball ring games is showing me KnoxvilleBear 3 railer. Now this guy can bank way better then average but the rest of his game isnt so good. He seldolm has much money but wanted to bet on this bank. I didnt think it was possible to go longrail -longrail- shortrail back to corner where ball started. I said bet a hondo you have 3 tries?
A bystander walks up says you bank this 1 rail to opposite corner pocket as he hammers the bank. Well you guessed it,he came up short,hit the opposite long rail,short rail,and straight back in corner where it started. Guy who was trying to get me on the bank was furious:grin-square:

The concept of numbering the pockets is something I still need to get use to. If you're able, I'd like to see what you're talking about. It sounds interesting.

I have a couple I'd like to share. I'll start with this one. I was participating in a local tournament. I'm still relatively new to this particular establishment. And people don't know me all that well. I was playing a lot at bars, and generally winning regularly. As the saying goes (and I may of seen it quoted on here prior to registering): If you're winning all the time, you're in the wrong pool hall. And that's why I moved from a bar to an actual hall.

At this particular establishment, I'm actually one of the weakest players there. And that's a good thing, being that I don't like to be below average. I'm not always a strong shooter, but I'm consistent. And I have a habit of pulling shots out of nowhere.

In the midst of playing one of the stronger people in the establishment, I ended up snookered via well played safety. My only hope was to kick for the four ball, which was dead set in corner. I managed, though kicking is definitely the weakest point of play for me. Next shot was a above average shot, nothing to brag about. I managed to run down to the one ball, with the table as you see below.

As I said, I'm still fairly new. So people sometimes wonder what I'm going to do, and how. It's not uncommon in this establishment to have a few people watching each game, and I could hear them mention that I may have snookered myself on this one. Of course, I thought it through, and just smiled. One ball, corner. I gestured to the pocket behind the 10 ball. I hear the whispers again.

"Going to bank it, and peel it off the back side of the ten. Watch."

And that's what I did too. A nice slow roll, right up into the jaws of the pocket. Cue ball goes two rails right behind the eight as shown with the ghost ball along the black line. I had my choice of either the side pocket, where it sat, or I could try to run it along the rail behind the 11 ball. If only the one ball had fell...

On a positive note, having the one ball there actually helped. The person I played ended up out of position, and tried to force the 10 ball to follow the one ball in. It didn't work.

I can remember quite a few of my own 'hail Mary', stroke, and shots
Where knowledge meets skill...... but two come to mind that are NOT
My own....

One, that inspired me to want to learn this game.... bar table
8 ball, 5 railer to a spot the size of a silver dollar...... to get out.

Two....only a devout 14.1 could appreciate.... a local, former
World class player (runner up to world champion Bobby Hunter)
In 14.1... let me play a few racks with him ('Babe' Thompson)...
Break ball was just under the side pocket, just off the rail....30-45
Degree angle with CB... OB just above the rack....made the OB
With inside to go by the top of the rack to opposite rail, where the
English reversed to take the CB back to hit the head ball, breaking
Free a couple and getting the CB in the open to shoot the next ball.

I am amazed at them both still!!

In your diagram the 11 is near the 1 hole. Go clockwise and you made the bank carom in the 4
Hole.

I understand what you're going for then. That would be an amazing shot!
