The tourney I was running just died...(rant)

Well I think I have a deal with the bowling alley to run a tournament there! I have to rally the players up and make sure they are receptive to the Idea of paying a green fee...

The deal that the bowling alley offered up is they won't open the tables for warm up but they will open them up for the tournament itself if each player pay's a $2 green fee to the house...I have to have a minimum of 8 players in order to have both tables. I had to beg the manager to let us do it. She said she would think about it (she did not seem receptive at all in person) and she called me tonight and told me that she'd give it a go!

Excited to be back to running a tournament...I'm going to keep pushing forward and maybe others in my area will jump on board and we can create a decent pool scene here in kingman!!!!

good luck to you. last year when i went to vegas for apa we decided to renta car and go to the grand canyon. we stopped in kingman for a bit to eat. it seemed like a nice lil town.

wanted to stop at the harley shop but the g/f was in a hurry to hit the road.

Dead beat pool players and senior citizens along with out of control loser pool hustlers looking to make a sandwich will kill a tournament in a hardbeat .I play several tournaments a month and have seen several pool places quit having tournaments simply because they werent making money in their opinion.I really had a lot of fun and met some great folks but destiny took over.Sometimes I think pool is just dying a slow death.

Well if you want something from the Harley Shop out here let me know...It's just a few minutes from my house...

This story makes me sick. Why would the bar agree to have a tourney in the first place if they were going to take one of the two tables away? 16 people and two tables is already really right. My feeling is you gotta walk and not look back. Find another bar that might be interested in have a tourney.

Thats exactly what we did...hopefully the new place we're at doesn't pull the same crap on us that the first place did!

is the tourney 8ball or 9ball ?

the picture is a flaming 8 ball, but the flyer says progressive 9ball.

Kind of confusing.

Its an 8ball tournament but I run a 9 ball break pot...it costs a Buck for a chance to break the 9 in...if no one gets it the money rolls over until someone wins it

i feel your pain sir. We went to the local bar where our team shoots APA out of. Brought in a weekly tournament, week 1 brought in 10-15, week 2 brought about 20, then the following couple weeks brought 30+. The own says to us that he will throw in $50-75 and give us discount on food and drinks. Well, a few weeks go by, no extra money and no discounts. about 3 weeks ago everyones tab was more than usual and he RAISED the price of beers. he says to us "sorry fellas, i upped the price and you WILL pay it."

Luckily we got to bring our tournament to another area bar and most of the players came with us. the new owner is incredibly helpful and appreciative.

Sorry for your tournament it really does stink. But go to a competitive bar and talk with them maybe?
