From the descriptions of the v grip here and elsewhere, it sounds exactly like my grip - which seemed to me from the very beginning to be simply the obvious way to grip the cue without interfering with a straight stroke. It's also the way that has been advocated by most knowledgable players (although described in different ways) as long as I can remember.
