The WINDY CITY OPEN

FYI..for all considering going to the Windy City next year. This was the worst run tournaments I have ever seen. The table were coin operated and you had to pay $1 per game out of your own pocket yet they charged a registration fee (what was that for). Secondly, they had a doubles tournament where every team got a bucket of beer...well guess what...no beer. Then the big draw was Jeanette Lee...she didn't even show. This was pathetic. They were also suppose to run minis every night..This didn't happen Wednesday or Thursday night. I will never return here and don't recommend it to anyone. My local tournaments are run much better. Also, they didn't even have a BCA referee on hand (or other sanctioned ref). This was a BIG LETDOWN. Speaking to other players they all concurred and stated how this tournament has gotten worse every year and how bad this year was. They only had 5 vendors as well....after stating they would have a lot of vendors. A true disappointment!!

I heard that one of Jeanette Lee's parents passed away.Thats why she couldn't make it.I think the tournament turned out great! I played in the 9-ball and loved it.It ran quick and smoothly.I got my payout quickly too.Sorry that you didn't like it.

Ah yes, we remember YOU! YOU were the ones that called the hotel to deliver your beer to your pool table! You didn't get the beer because YOU alerted the hotel that Budweiser had supplied the beer, and it was against hotel policy to give it out! Oh, by the way, after you caused such a stink EVERYONE BUT YOU got free beer!

You were drunk the entire time and and blamed your misfortunes on us because you couldn't make a ball!

We had mini's every night, all night! Guess everyone but YOU played in them! LOL you are pathetic!

There was an announcement that Jeanette Lee had a death in her family, which I guess you missed in your drunken stuber..

The rest of your jibberish I wont address because you are not worth my time.

Eydie...I don't even drink. You must have me confused with another. You haven't addressed any of the issues with your poorly run tournament!!!

First off I am going to try and say this as polite as I can,

Coin op tables yes and it is the same as at any major event, ( or maybe you have never been to a BCA, or VNEA event in Vegas) and the registration fee is a cost that covers administration expences. If you knew how many hours of paperwork it takes to put this event together you would realize how little of the admisistrative costs the registration fees cover.

The APA doubles bucket of beer tournament had an isuue when one person called the hotle and demanded his beer!! There was a plan in place and the beer for the event was on ice, until this call was made and the hotel confiscated the beer as they wanted it to be purchased from them. Something that would not have been cost effective at all. Did you come to play pool or drink beer??

And I will have to apologize to you and everyone else for allowing Jeanett's father to become seriously ill. In face Jeff Beckley and I tried to contact Jeanette all weekend for a status on her dad, and had no luck. It was apparently in your eyes a bad choice for us to allow him to become as ill as he could, maybe we should have brought his hospital bed into the center of the megacenter... would that have pleased you????

No minis??? Well I can assure you that was incorrect as I myself ran the mini's every night, some times as many as 6 at one time, and did not see the inside of my hotel room until at least 8 am each morning....

FYI there was at least one VNEA, APA and BCA referee on site every hour of the event and at times there were more than 3 available.

Vendors are tough to judge on who is coming, The Windy City did not charge a vendor space, and still ahd at least 3 vendors that cancelled at the last minute. This is possibly a result of the Derby City event being scheduled in direct competition with the Chicago event.

So All I can say to you is once you recover from your drunken stupor, and get your head out of your ass... be sure to purchase tickets for the next IPT event so you can witness a real screwing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone But YOU said it went well. So now it's addressed. And it said on the site and still does, the tables are coin op. Maybe you need a new pair of readers? Feel REAL Stupid now, don't ya!

You have now been added to the red flag list. Which allows all APA League operators and other national events to know what a problematic person you are! Is there anything else you want to complain about, so we can ad it to the list?

What??? You mean you don't expect everyone to work for FREE, and the tables to be open TOO! :D Eydie, Joe, and everybody else do a great job with what they've got to work with. Managing groups of hundreds of poolplayers is no small task. Very sad to hear about Jeanette's father...best wishes for a complete recovery!

Eydie,

Now let me get this straight; all that the new guy (odshot) wants is free beer, free pool, free spectating, free work from the tournament organizers, and a free resurrection of a pro player's father. Perhaps you were negligent for not sending a copy of "KT's Miracle Cures for Everything" to the parents of all of your contestants (you could have gotten the copies for free by signing up everyone for a newsletter subscription - I guess you must be sorry now).

Anyway; all I've heard from reputable participants is that a great time was had by all at the Windy City Open.

wow. I read the first post and was a little bummed because I've yet to go to any billiard tourney and I look forward to haunting them as much as I can once I get the money. I was thinking, "Wow, that dude made it sound horrible." But knowing how happy just playing pool makes me, I'd probably be excited even if what Odshot said was true.

Thanks for clearing that up guys. It sounds like it was a badass awesome time and I can't wait to join the ranks.

LOL Jesus 8 am? I'm a nightowl myself and I don't get a lot of sleep. But one time I played pool for 6 hours straight and I was exausted. I don't know how you rocked out till early in the morning. Coffee much? lol

Edyie,

I love how you are so quick to jump to conclusions pretending you know exactly who I am..very defensive. You obviously have the wrong person. You don't know shit about me or who I am. Instead of being defensive and immature, why not deal with the matters at hand and address the issues to improve your future versus your immature handling of issues.

hey oddball

In reply to mr. oddshots post I have to comment. I was there working very hard to help the event promoter get everything done. The teams in the doubles "Bucket of Beer" event were told if the had any questions or concerns to come to me personally. It was not hard to find me. However, Mr. oddshots decided to call the resort desk and ask for a manager to find out where his free beer was. Had he asked the right people he would have been informed that the beer would have been personally delivered by Mrs. Romano herself. We wanted to get the event underway so as the players were playing and not standing around. When the call was made it alerted security that items were being given away and not sold by the resort. They were obviosly concerned about losing profit. That made it immpossible for us to deliver beer to the teams as the resort would have shut down the entire event. In reguards to the tables it cost alot of money to get those tables to the event and use thenm for six days. If Mr. oddshots would like, we could take it out of the events payouts and or the spectator fee that he did not pay on the days he was not registered to to play( which were more that one.) If Mr. oddshots and I use Mr. to point out the lack of respect he had for both Mr. & Mrs. Ramono, had used a little more class or any at all, he would have not made bad decisions and would have supported the event by playing in more events or making sure he payed his cover. He did not even by a shirt. All that money goes to help make next year better. Also, good reviews help us promote the event to possible sponsors who may be willing to bring in and pay for tables that do not have to be coin op. Anytime oddshots would like to volunteer his time to help the event run better I will be glad to have his help. I am a player who comes to this event, all the way from Buffalo, NY, not to play but to work. To all the classy players who were there this year I am glad you had a good time and hope we can continue to provide a great event.
To those who felt they did not get treated fairly we would be glad to have the help next year.

good times

If you couldnt find what you wanted at the windy city you didnt try. There were minis for every skill leval. if you didnt like what they were running all you had to do was ask and they would have set it up. It was 24 hours of pool fun. For any fan of pool with a little knowledge of who the players are you were able to watch as good of pool as you could see anywhere in the world.
The tournament staff went out of thier way to allow people to play in more than one event at a time. all in all it went great some had to wait but they tried to give a safe time. The staff was friendly and never seemed to get frustrated with the never ending questions. Pool players can be very demanding.

Thanks for a great time Eydie, Bob, John, Joe and eveyone else who worked around the clock for us to have a great time.

One doesn't have to know who you are... you've shown us everything we need to know about you in your thread here. 99% of the people who went say they had a good time. So either you are some kind of diva pro with high standards, or just some misguided goof with skewed priorities. Now I don't know a whole lot about pool, but I do know this... it is the greatest game ever invented. It cheers me up when I have a bad day, it keeps my mind and reflexes sharp, and I hope to have it one day sustain me. You should really simplify and realize that as bad as you thought the Open was, you still had your arms and eyes and you're still breathing which means you can still play pool. What else matters? Your chances of having fun and leaving happy depends on your own attitude and mindset.

But I don't place all the blame on you... Sometimes we have a bad day. Sometimes life doesn't go as we'd planned. Fair enough. So I'll do my part and give you some pictures to cheer you up. :D
