The World Snooker Professional Championship 2011

Down to the Quarter Final stage and so far Williams and Selby have impressed me the most.

Trump v Dott
Ding v Selby
Williams v Allen
O Sullivan v Higgins

But this is a marathon not a sprint and still time for players to reach their best level.

My views on the last eight players:

Trump-New kid on the block but inexperienced at this level.
Dott-Twice a finalist and a grinder will want to be there again.

Ding-First time in the last eight might be as far as he goes this time.
Selby-Very impressive play but not under pressure so far 2007 finalist.

Williams-Very impressive two time winner good to see him in form again.
Allen-Good player on his top form but cant see him going further.

O Sullivan-Looks off the pace due to events hes played this season
Higgins-Could click into top gear now hes looked at the draw.

What do you think though?Have fun :)

At the afternoon interval, Mark Williams leads 3 -1 against Mark Allen. He should have been losing by that score. I quit watching the first frame when I thought Allen had it wrapped up. Came back later and it was 66-66 and they were messing about with a respotted black. Allen eventually served it up on a silver platter.

Trump leads Dott by the same score, and it should have been 4 -0.

I am curious to see how Higgins performs after that marathon against Rory McLeod. Snooker needs to put a player like McLeod on a shot clock, to borrow a rule from golf, to prevent slow play. :D That match was like the last session of Robertson vs Dott final last year - punchdrunk potters. :D

Selby knocked in 6 centuries in one session, a record; has more centuries in a season than anyone. So He looks to be the most in form player out there. On the other hand, Trump beat him in China.

But my pick way back was Higgins, with Trump the upsetter.

At the end of the session:

Judd Trump 7 - Graeme Dott 1

Mark Williams 5 - Mark Allen 3

According to the commentators, no player has come back from a 5 - 1 deficit,
so both Allen and Dott are fighting history.

I was really impressed by Dott..never watched him before.
Musta put the curse on him...now he's in big trouble.

my prediction
When they announce the winner..
...it's gonna sound like they dropped the silverware

Trump has had a relatively easy way to the semis, which is good for a player like him, as it's given him some momentum. But he's never been put under serious pressure so far. I'd like to see him against psychologically dominating players such as Selby or Higgins. He'd have a much easier time against Ding, who's very fragile.

But Ding has been doing quite well so far in his QF, and that's mostly due to his masterful tactics & good safety play. Selby has had his share in that, too, by missing too many easy shots, but that's partly a result of the pressure from Ding.

Williams against Higgins - my money goes on this one as the best match of the tournament.

Ding Higgins 13 Selby O'Sullivan 10

You missed more than the last frame if you think Selby was about to win. I think he only time he was in the lead was after the first frame. :D Here are the first 8 frames.

Ding Junhui v Mark Selby Frame Scores

5-124 (124)
115-12 (58,53)
96-22 (63)
112-0 (65)
78-47
0-138 (87,51)
116-0 (77)
5-74 (74)

Each morning I copy the link locations all the table links I find to a Word document.

Now I have a list of all the possible sources in one spot so I can try each one quickly (those ads are a pain) when a feed craps out. And it will crap out for regularly scheduled programming or because the operator wants to go check out something else. :D

Selby missed the 6-ball...very makeable..to be 11-12 down.
Ding made a great shot and got on the black for the match.

Bad positioning for the brown ball... too much angle... the cut had to be thin. As a result, too far down the table with the white ball for the next pot - no angle at all on the blue ball, had to play follow. The pink ball was tough, and he missed it. Ding had an even tougher position, but he made it.
The previous frame though - Ding got unbelieveably lucky at one point, crashing into pink, which hit the red ball, setting it up for an easy shot. Still, Selby has only himself to blame for the previous frames.
I'm afraid Ding can be a pushover for Trump now. He can play fantastic snooker, but he's too easy to break. I'd bet all my money on Selby against Trump, but not on Ding.

Selby was playing really well this week and Ding took him down.... I like Ding at this point to win it all.
